My favorite part of being a lawyer is hands down the connections I’m able to form with my clients. I’ve always been a people person, and I love the personal aspect of advocating on behalf of someone. I’ve been fortunate enough to attend a top law school and work in a variety of law firms and offices, representing everyone from everyday Arizona locals to large, multinational corporations. I’ve represented insurance companies and gained invaluable insight into how they operate and evaluate cases. Though I’m thankful for the experience, I much prefer representing the underdog.. My approach to cases is to, in a sense, work backwards. I work in collaboration with my clients to come up with the ideal result and then figure out the most straightforward route to get there. From there, my job is to execute on that strategy without cutting corners, while always keeping the lines of communication open.. Outside of work, I’m constantly challenging myself with new hobbies. On any given day you can find me golfing with friends, working on my Brazilian jiu-jitsu, cooking, or playing my guitar.

Maria practices in the areas of intellectual property, internet law, and commercial litigation, representing clients throughout the United States. She focuses her practice on assisting businesses in protecting their trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, information technology, and other intellectual property through preventative measures to avoid disputes and through litigation when disputes arise.. An accomplished author, she has recently published Protect Your Writings: A Legal Guide for Authors and Apple v. Samsung, The Balance Between Patent Rights and the Free Market.She has numerous articles and dozens of published court cases. Maria frequently speaks at seminars and workshops on intellectual property and internet law topics.  She is a guest lecturer at Arizona State University and has appeared on radio and television providing legal commentary on intellectual property issues.. Maria is the past Chairperson of the Ecommerce & Technology Section of the Arizona State Bar, and is on the executive council of the Intellectual Property Section of the Arizona State Bar. She is on the U.S. subcommittee of the Anti-counterfeiting Committee of the International Trademark Association.
