I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations from Brigham Young University in 1998 and my Juris Doctor from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 2001.. I have a passion for the courtroom and enjoy representing my clients in that setting. However, I have also learned that clients’ interests are often best served by resolving a matter outside the courtroom. My philosophy is that my client’s needs are best served by aggressively preparing for trial while always searching for avenues to positively resolve my client’s case short of trial. Since being admitted to the Bar, I have gained considerable experience in municipal, complex civil litigation, domestic, real property and creditor/debtor law. I focus primarily on municipal representation, civil litigation, business and government matters. My litigation practice includes representing clients in contract, real estate, and domestic disputes. My clients include corporations, financial institutions, government entities, hospitals, and individuals from St. George to Salt Lake City and numerous communities in between. I currently handle the firm’s municipal representation of American Fork City, Mona City, and Nephi City, and have experience in handling criminal matters for various cities. I have considerable experience in the areas of municipal law and criminal justice. I am currently the Highland City and Eureka attorney. I was appointed Special District Deputy Attorney for Salt Lake County in 2014. I have also has served as Special Prosecutor for Utah County since 2012. I advise key personnel and city officils in several municipalities regarding land use, constitutional law and ethical issues.. In 2015 the Utah Supreme Court appointed me to serve as a member of its Committee on Professional Conduct. I am frequently in the courtroom where I apply my skills as a trial advocate in state and federal courts. I maintain a private legal practice focusing on intellectual property (emphasis on trademark and copyright law) and estate planning (emphasis on wills and trusts).
