Allison Mahaney grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma. She graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2004. After graduation, Allison went to work on the NOAA Ship Fairweather based out of Ketchikan, Alaska. On board the Fairweather, Allison served as an Officer of the Deck and managed hydrographic surveys to support the vessel’s nautical charting mission. At the end of her scheduled tour, Allison transferred to Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary where she served as Operations Coordinator from 2007 to 2010. While at the sanctuary, Allison enjoyed working on Washington's outer coast onboard the R/V Tatoosh. During their time in Port Angeles, she and her family loved life on the Olympic Peninsula and always hoped to return. After leaving NOAA, Allison attended law school at Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon. During her time there, Allison worked as an intern at the Port of Portland and the Eighth Coast Guard District Legal Office in New Orleans, Louisiana. Allison graduated from law school with a certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law. She and her family returned to Port Angeles in 2015 at which time she joined a local law firm as an associate attorney. In October 2017, Allison opened Waypoint Law Office in Port Angeles where she has a civil law practice consisting primarily of real estate law, landlord-tenant law, probate, estate planning, and litigation matters.
