I was born and raised in Reno, Nevada, and I am committed to serving this community. I graduated from Gonzaga University in 2001 with a degree in Public Relations and a women's golf scholarship. I obtained my law degree, cum laude, at Seattle University. While in law school, I worked for two small businesses, a boutique employment litigation firm and a small family law firm.. After graduation, I practiced law in Kirkland, Washington for over two years in the areas of real estate, business, and estate planning. I moved back to Reno with my husband in 2007 to return to my hometown and to be close to family. Since returning to Reno, I have practiced law all over Northern Nevada, serving the needs of small businesses and families and gaining valuable experience in the areas of business, real estate, family law, wills, trusts, probate, and litigation.. My goal at Johnson Law Practice, PLLC is to provide accessible legal services to small business and families.
I married my high school sweetheart Cheryl Bianucci in 1984 and 35 years later we are as happy as ever. Our oldest Daughter Kylie recently married her college sweetheart Mitch, our daughter Abby attends UNR, and our son Drew is preparing to spend two years in Africa giving service to the people of Ghana.. I love spending time with my family, watching my kids develop their talents, and when I can find a little free time, fly fishing. I consider the amazing Truckee River flowing through the heart of our town as a gift to be enjoyed and protected. Since I don’t often find time to fish, I like to grab a sandwich to eat by the river while I enjoy its beauty.
I have structured my professional life around colleagues who share my goals and skills. All are excellent attorneys at the top of there craft. We share everything on a professional level and I do not hesitate to seek counsel from one or all if I have a difficult question regarding a case. So, when a client retains me for his or her defense he or she gets not one attorney but several. But make no mistake, all Court hearings and ultimate decisions are my clients and mine to make. I look at all of my clients as friends through this process. It is a team effort, one for all and all for one. This is the only way I can function. In fact, many of my prior clients are friends and have been to my home as guests. Reality for me is if you care about a person and find something no matter how small to relate to, it gives me the advantage when I stand in front of a jury and look them straight in the eye and ask them to do justice, not vengeance.. I have lived in Nevada since 1996, and it is my home. I enjoy the wild outdoors that Nevada has to offer, and spend my free time hunting, fishing and hiking with my family and friends.

I have been practicing law for the last decade, and absolutely love it. I got a bit of a late start, spending time as a correctional officer and a network engineer before deciding what I want to be when I grow up. I graduated from the University of Idaho College of Law at the age of 38. My first 8 years of practice were at the Washoe County District Attorney's office. I have worked the last two years with Joey Gilbert Law as the head of the criminal law department. I am now opening my own office with the help of my loving and supporting wife. I will be focusing on criminal law, but will also handle personal injury, immigration, and select business law cases.
I have been in private practice in Reno, Nevada for nearly 40 years. A resume of my skills and experiences is available on request. I have never had a bar complaint, fee dispute nor been sued by a client. That last time I looked I had a "BV" rating with Martindale Hubble.
I have been helping people with personal injury cases since 1994 . Dealing with insurance companies is not easy, and they are going to do everything that they can to defeat your claim. Before starting my firm, I worked as an attorney for the insurance companies. I gained valuable insight into how they approach these cases and I will use this knowledge to get you a fair offer. I handle all types of personal injury matters. I am a solo practitioner. That means when you work with me, you get to work side-by-side with a lawyer who has spent his entire legal career handling personal injury cases. There is no junior associate or paralegal who is actually doing the work in your case. I know this is not the way the big flashy firms with million dollar advertising campaigns operate. You will not be handed off to an associate and become just another client in their machine. You are important to me and I will take the time to get to know you and your case and dedicate myself to helping you along every step of your case.
I have 29 years practicing law and representing clients mainly in the area of criminal defense. I am currently a partner with the Law Office of Calvert & Hubach, LLC in Reno, Nevada.. On a professional level, I have or have had membership and leadership positions in the Nevada State Bar Advertising Review Committee, the CLE Committee, the Annual Meeting Planning Committee, and the Bridge the Gap Committee. I am a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. I ran for Nevada Supreme Court in 2006. I am listed in the Kinsington Whos Who (2000).. I have taught other attorneys in the areas of criminal defense and ethics and have taught law students how to do legal research and writing at California Western School of Law.
I guide business owners over rocky legal terrain so they can protect and grow their companies.
I enjoy a rating by my lawyer peers of AV Preeminent® on (http://www.martindale.com/David-Arthur-Hornbeck/1070002-lawyer.htm?view=cr). I am admitted to practice in all Nevada and California State Courts; in the U.S. District Court, of Nevada; in the U.S. Court of Appeals, 9th Circuit; and in the U.S. Supreme Court.
I claim to be a “local girl” as I was born right here in Reno, Nevada at St. Mary’s Hospital. I lived on an alfalfa farm in Yerington, Nevada until age 5. I then spent my remaining school-aged years growing up in Santa Rosa, California. Upon high school graduation I returned to, what I have always considered my home in Northern Nevada, where I attended the University of Nevada, Reno.. I went on to receive my Juris Doctorate from the University of Tulsa, where I graduated in the top of my class. I also earned a certificate in Health Law from the University of Tulsa. During law school I competed on a national trial competition team, where I wrote the eighth highest scoring legal brief in the nation and received the award for “Family Law Student of the Year” from the Oklahoma Bar Association. Additionally, my research work was published in the Fall 2009 Case Western Reserve Law Review in an article about commercial speech. Furthermore, I was selected to be a law clerk for Administrative Law Judge Jeffrey Wolfe and spent my last semester working with the Social Security Administration.. Again, upon law school graduation, I immediately returned to Reno, where I can now finally say, is my permanent home. Northern Nevada is absolutely stunning with its snow-capped mountains in the winter and crystal blue lakes in the summer. I feel very fortunate to be able to call such a beautiful place “home.”. Thereafter, I happily joined Hardy Law Group where I now focus in the areas of corporate and business law, election law and Civil Litigation. I also spend a fair amount of time on other, general practice types of cases.. In 2011, I graduated from Trial Lawyers College where I had the wonderful opportunity to work with and learn from some of the greatest trial lawyers of all time.. I am currently licensed to practice in Nevada and California, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Federal District Courts of Nevada, including the United States Bankruptcy Court.. I love what I do and couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else. I genuinely take interest in my cases and care deeply about my clients.. “Find something you love to do and you will never have to work a day in your life.”. ~Harvey MacKay
I appeared recently on Nevada Newsmakers, September 30, 2010.
I am one of the best attorneys in the state, top three. I do not care about an AVVO rating.. Before I begin, DO NOT ASK QUESTIONS THAT MAY INCRIMINATE YOU! IT CAN MAKE YOUR CASE WORSE! IT IS A FLAWED CONCEPT THAT YOU CAN ASK QUESTIONS ON THE INTERNET AND THAT IT WON'T BE USED AGAINST YOU. THEY CAN AND WILL TRACE YOUR IP ADDRESS. THESE RATINGS ARE PAID FOR. EXAMINE CLIENT REVIEWS NOT RATINGS.. Scroll down and view cases. Victories are the only thing that matter. If you do not win, they will not respect you and you will not get a negotiation that benefits your client. I include misdemeanor victories because your case matters to me even though the charges are small. A small charge to me is a big charge to you. I will drive a corrupt judge off the bench if necessary even if it is only a misdemeanor. By drive him off the bench, I mean he threw his hands in the air and declared a mistrial and double jeopardy attached, case dismissed. He later lost his election and is no longer a judge. You either win or you don't.. I also do not pay for my awards my industry recognition comes from the judges and colleagues with whom I practice. You can bet they recognize me.. Many criminal defense attorneys claim they are litigators. It sounds great. But litigators are those attorneys that go to trial and have gone to trial. They make their living fighting in the trenches of the legal profession. Litigators know that those clients who are not represented by those few who are familiar with the trenches, are not represented by the most capable, experienced and compelling criminal defense attorneys within the profession. There are very few real litigators. Most cases settle or resolve without litigation.. You do not have to take my word for it. I am a litigator. Evidence of my victories hangs on my wall for everyone to see for themselves. It is the only way a person hiring an attorney can know for sure that he or she is in fact hiring a litigator. I give free consultations so people may see how I present in court, how I articulate my thoughts and they can see for themselves who they are choosing to hire. Would you buy a car if they charged you money to view it? Of course not, you would think that dishonest.. I am the only one that answers my phone. I am available 24 hours a day seven days a week and if you want legal advice i will give it for free. If you like me, then you can hire me. But you won't speak to a secretary.. None of my fees are represented by this site. This site does not give me the option of explaining my fees. Call me I will give you as much information as I can, for free. I am confident you will hire me if you speak with me. Preliminary legal knowledge before you hire a lawer is paramount.

I am a business lawyer whose practice is limited strictly to transactional work. What does that mean? It means I am not a litigator and that I work hard to keep my clients out of court by avoiding problems before they happen. When litigation becomes inevitable, I work with litigation attorneys in my office to make sure my clients receive vigorous, cost effective representation.
