TED BRUNS has been engaged in the practice of law since 1995 and joined the firm as a partner in 2001. Mr. Bruns served as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Henrico prior to entering private practice where he maintains a general practice with an emphasis on criminal and civil litigation. Mr. Bruns regularly represents clients throughout central Virginia in both state and federal courts and has spoken on issues related to the practice of criminal law at the University of Richmond Law School. Mr. Bruns’ criminal defense practice includes the defense of all variety of traffic and criminal offenses, from minor moving violations to capital offenses in both the state and federal systems. Mr. Bruns was recognized by Super Lawyers and Richmond Magazines in 2008 and 2009 as one of Virginia’s “rising stars” in the defense of criminal cases.

It's an honor and a privilege to be a member of the Virginia State Bar, and I awake thankful everyday that I'm a lawyer with the opportunity to help people in need.  Whether you've received a speeding ticket, you've been charged with a serious felony, you've been injured in an automobile accident, or you have an issue with your family, I believe I can help you.  I have a diverse practice with an emphasis on criminal, personal injury, and domestic relations law.  If the case could end up in front of a judge or jury, chances are that the case falls within my expertise.. I grew up in South Boston, Virginia, and after graduating from VMI I worked for three years in the healthcare construction industry.  I eventually decided I wanted to be a lawyer, and after law school I became a prosecutor in Southampton and Mecklenburg County.  During my time as a prosecutor, I tried numerous felony and misdemeanor criminal cases in front of judges and juries.  I then entered private practice, where I've continued to broaden my practice.  I represent large companies, single mothers, college students, business people, construction workers, and everyone in between.  There is no case too big or small, and I pride myself on having honest communication with all my clients.  I never promise a successful outcome, only that I will do everything in my power to get a favorable result, fight as hard as I can, and handle your case with the utmost integrity.. I spend most of my free time with my wife, Elizabeth, at our home here in Richmond.  I enjoy spending time with friends and family when I'm not at the office.  I'm an avid college football fan and spend Fall Saturdays pulling hard for Elizabeth's alma mater, The University of Alabama Crimson Tide.  In the Winter I enjoy watching college basketball and try not to miss many UVA games.  When the weather warms up, I enjoy spending as much time as possible outside, and I especially enjoying grilling different types of meat and fish.  We're proud members of First Presbyterian Church and try to stay as active as we can with church functions.. I earned my Law Degree (J.D.) from the T. C. Williams School of Law, University of Richmond.  My undergraduate degree is from Virginia Commonwealth University -School of Business.. I entered private practice in Norfolk in 1978 after completing a Judicial Clerkship with the Virginia Supreme Court.  Initially focusing on injury cases, I quickly evolved into family law, which remains the focus of my practice today.. I enjoy boating, golf and the beach.  Anywhere near the water is great, except when on the golf course!
