In 1992, I received a bachelor’s degree from Emory & Henry College.  After graduating college, I worked several years as an SSA disability paralegal in SWVA before graduating magna cum laude with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Appalachian School of Law. While in law school, I served as President of the Student Bar Council, received twelve academic achievements (book) awards, West’s Outstanding Achievement Award, ASL Student of the Year and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association Trial Advocacy Award.. Upon graduation, I followed my calling to practice Social Security Disability law. For the past twenty years, I have zealously represented thousands of SSA disability clients throughout Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee. I am a sustaining member of the National Organization of Social Security Representatives and I have taught continuing legal education classes in handling Social Security Disability cases.

After over twelve years of criminal prosecution, I have decided to dedicate my career to defending the rights of individual citizens. For years I sat back and wondered why so many defense attorneys failed their clients. Why didn’t they challenge a stop? Why didn’t they challenge a search? Why didn’t they ask for a plea deal?
