I have seen how most insurance companies put profit before people, delay and low-ball the payment of claims, and do whatever they can to maximize their profits at the expense of the public. That is why it is so important to hire a lawyer who can hold them accountable and achieve the best results for you and your family. It gives me a lot of satisfaction helping everyday people take on these large corporations.. Please watch the video links to see how major insurance companies take advantage of the public when handling automobile injury claims.
I have practiced criminal law in San Antonio and the surrounding areas for over 20 years. I like what I do. I believe every person deserves a zealous defense. It doesn't matter to me if you are innocent, guilty, or somewhere in between. It is my goal to protect your record and to do my best to keep it as clean as possible. This means that just because you are "guilty" I am still going to hold the State to the high burden of being able to prove your case and I am going to do everything I can to obtain the best result for you. I also will go to trial when necessary. I have handled almost every type of criminal case from traffic tickets up to capital murder and I am very familiar with the Bexar County Courts.. If you have a question on a criminal case feel free to call me or send me a message. There is no commitment for that call and no pressure to hire our office. I will be honest and upfront with you as to my opinion and the fees that are charged. I believe it is important to have an attorney you trust and can communicate with. You can and should call as many attorneys as you feel you need to find the one who is right for you. All attorneys are not created equal and not every attorney will really care what happens in your case. Even the best attorneys handle similar cases differently. It is important for you to find an attorney who handles your case the way you feel most comfortable with. Every individual represented by my office deserves respect and hopefully that is the way all of my previous clients feel they were treated.

I grew up in the small town of Hallettsville, Texas and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio. Prior to law school I worked as a petroleum landman where I researched title to land for oil and gas companies. I continued to work as a landman during and after law school. My knowledge in tracing mineral title and conducting genealogy research helped me make a natural transition into probate law and estate planning.. I take pride in my ability to navigate through the legal process while maintaining a compassionate understanding for the feelings and intentions of those that I am privileged to help in the San Antonio community. The city of San Antonio is special to me because it is where I met my husband and we started our own family.. I know how important it is to plan for the future and to protect our loved ones. I also know how difficult it is to go through the probate procedure after losing someone that you love. It is rewarding and I feel honored to help my clients as they make decisions that protect the people they care about the most.

After graduating from Trinity University, I went on to earn my J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law. There, I served as the Executive Comments Editor for one of the school’s major publications, The Scholar: St. Mary’s Law Review on Minority Issues. I also worked extensively with a San Antonio mediator and arbitrator, Dan Naranjo, researching and writing on a number of legal topics.. After law school, I decided to remain in San Antonio to give back to the community I grew up in. I served as a Briefing Attorney with the Fourth Court of Appeals for Chief Justice Alma Lopez and Justice Marialyn Barnard for two years. After that, I worked as an oil and gas attorney reviewing a variety of documents surrounding the transfer of property. In 2013, I decided to open my own practice, handling a number of probate matters in the following counties: Bexar, Comal, and Wilson. Shorty after opening my practice, a Staff Attorney position with the Fourth Court of Appeals opened and I was asked to return to the court to continue appellate work permanently.

I focus on probate and estate planning almost exclusively because I am passionate about helping people navigate and avoid unnecessary grief and hardship. I take great pride in drafting specially tailored Wills, Trusts, and other estate planning documents to protect my clients and their loves ones. These situations are difficult enough without the legal process being made more complicated by poor drafting or failure to plan. It is my mission to protect my client's interests (legal, financial and personal) and hold their hands through the legal process. I base my practice on honesty, good communication, and hard work.. I currently take cases in Bexar County, Guadalupe County and Comal County. I have represented clients who live in Florida, Oregon, Washington, New York, Rhode Island, Minnesota, Illinois, Ohio, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana, Colorado, Arizona, and even out of the country (though this always involves a decedent or ward who resided in South Texas). When it comes to hiring an attorney for probate matters, where the decedent lived (not where the client lives) is usually the determining factor.. I am originally from Chicago, Illinois, but have also lived in Ohio, North Carolina, California, and South Dakota. I enjoy spending time with my family, travel and volunteering in the San Antonio community. I came to the practice of law by a circuitous route and relatively late in life following a series of earlier careers. My first real job was at the Pearl Brewing Company and I made my way up to the position of Executive Secretary to the President. I became pregnant with my first child around the time Pear Brewing Company was sold, so I then became a stay-at-home mom/volunteer/school board member during the time my three daughters attended St. Luke's Catholic School. By then I was ready to re-enter the paid workforce and I decided to listen to an inner voice that had been urging me for some time to look at a law career. I got a job in a law firm as a secretary while taking night classes and soon became a Certified Legal Assistant focusing in civil litigation and worked in that field for ten years before deciding to make the leap from legal assistant to lawyer. I took the LSAT and applied to several Texas law schools, not sure if any of them would be interested in having a middle-aged grandmother attending their esteemed institutions. Happily, I heard from several and I happily attended the Texas Tech University School of Law and the Rawls School of Business from 2004 to 2007, earning joint degrees of a Juris Doctorate and MBA. Since 2007 I have operated as a solo practitioner focusing in the area of wills, trusts and probate as well as small business start-ups.. I am the mother of three beautiful daughters and grandmother of three incredible youngsters. I am also the proud mom of four cats and grandmother to a spoiled Husky named Gypsy. When I'm not working I read incessantly, knit whenever I can find the time, love eating out with my friends and having my grandkids over to play.
I believe that good lawyers are good problem solvers. When someone hires me to represent them I consider it a sacred trust. I take my job seriously because I know how much is on the line. Thank you for considering my profile, and I look forward to hearing from you and meeting you.
I believe in giving my clients 110 percent of my effort and loyalty. I am committed to providing zealous, aggressive representation for all of my clients, and have a track record to prove it.. In addition to being a lawyer, I am a Certified Public Accountant (licensed in Virginia), and have worked as an auditor and audit manager with the Department of Defense before going to law school and becoming an attorney. I find that this foundation has proved extremely valuable in representing my family law clients, as attention to detail can be very important and can often make or break a case.
I believe each client has a unique story, with their own need for support and guidance. I talk frankly with my clients to give them an honest view of the pros and cons of litigating their case and the options they may face. With a large practice and a large legal staff assisting me I’m able to spend as much time as needed with each and every client. I want my clients to know I am there for them, so every client is given my cell phone number and the cell number of my legal assistant so that you can reach us 7 days a week.

I am passionate about what I do. It is my honor to be a trial lawyer and assist people who have had their careers severely damaged or ended due to the illegal conduct of an employer. My past experience as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas and as a defense lawyer in one of the nation's largest law firms gives me unique insights and an advantage when it comes to effectively representing employees.. When you retain me to represent you, you get me, not an associate or junior lawyer. I will take full control over every aspect of your case and give it my personal attention. In my experience, this gives me an advantage over my opponents because I have handled every aspect of your case myself, rather than allowing a less experienced attorney to handle some matters and then try to understand what occurred later.. I am board certified in Labor & Employment Law and represent employees in overtime, harassment, wrongful discharge, and fraud/whistleblower cases. This includes claims of discrimination, sexual harassment, breach of employment agreements, and noncompete defense, as well as claims of unpaid overtime and corporate fraud and/or fraud against the government.
I am passionate about the law and about protecting my clients' rights. I am the most zealous advocate that you will find.
