I love cats, art and my children. Not necessarily in that order, (although now that all of my children/step-children are teenagers it depends what day you ask me!) It is therefore probably no surprise that my passions, (aside from my law firm), are animal welfare, art and education. I volunteer for a local all-volunteer cat rescue, I am on the board of Directors of a non-profit art gallery, and I am one of the parent representatives on the School Organizational Team (S.O.T.) of one of my son’s schools for the second year in a row. I believe it is my dedication to my family and local community that have helped make me a good lawyer. I was born and educated in England. I was the first member of my family to attend university and I worked as a barmaid throughout college and Law School to help support myself. I graduated from the University of East Anglia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law in 1994. I then attended Nottingham Law School before completing a two year training contract with National Law firm Shoosmiths Solicitors. At the time it was incredibly difficult to find a training contract and I took a job working in the mail room at Shoosmiths while I continued to apply for training contracts. I was told in no uncertain terms that this summer job would NOT lead to a training contract but I have always been stubborn, (as my father will tell you!) I was given a training contract after a few months and I spent six months in each of the four main departments and gained experience in Corporate Law, Commercial Litigation, Commercial Property and Personal Injury. I was admitted to the roll and became a Solicitor, (the English equivalent of an attorney), in 1997. I worked as an Assistant Solicitor in a small law firm called Cordell & Co. specializing in Personal Injury, from September 1997 through March 2001. I handled approximately 350 cases at any one time, supervised junior members of staff and I helped set up policies and procedures to streamline the firm. In March 2001, I founded Fishers Solicitors, (my maiden name is Fisher), a firm committed exclusively to handling personal injury cases arising out of motor vehicle accidents. As the sole Director and Shareholder, I helped grow the firm to over 50 members of staff. In 2002, I moved to Las Vegas, although I maintained my interest in Fishers Solicitors until it closed in 2012.. I started Terry Law Group, PC ("TLG") in 2013 We handle all types of injury cases including motor vehicle accidents, pedestrian accidents, animal bites, product liability, boating accidents, elder abuse, wrongful death, dental malpractice, food poisoning, slip and fall, assault and battery, negligent security, bed bug bites and mold or other habitability cases. I am as passionate about getting justice and fair compensation for my clients as I am about every other aspect of my life. I have some understanding of what it is like to be injured, (I suffered a compound fracture of my tibia in an accident which required two surgeries over two years). I have been practicing law for 20 years and I am dedicated to listening to my clients’ needs, providing honest, straightforward advice and walking my clients through the difficult and often lengthy process after an accident so they do not feel alone. TLG – it’s as close to TLC as I could make it.
Amanda has spent her career in pursuit of helping others. Amanda began her journey at University of California, Davis, where she received a department citation for her service as the President of Psi Chi – The International Honor Society in Psychology. Amanda ultimately graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.. Upon graduation, Amanda moved to Las Vegas to work as a claims manager for a local personal injury firm. From this experience, Amanda realized that her compassion for clients and her ability to empathize gave her an edge—making her an outstanding advocate. With this realization as her motivation, Amanda applied to—and was accepted by—UNLV’s William S. Boyd School of Law.. Throughout her first year at Boyd Law, and influenced by her psychology degree, Amanda took note of the incredible amount of stress that both law students and attorneys cope with daily. Driven by her desire to help others, her passion for psychology, and her innate need to solve problems, Amanda researched how stress influences the brain’s biology, as well as stress symptomatology in student and attorney performance. With her research findings, Amanda spearheaded Boyd Law’s mindfulness movement, creating programming to help students achieve optimal success through mental wellness. Amanda continues to teach classes to attorneys, where she explains how stress negatively affects brain chemistry and how exercise, combined with meditation, can reverse those effects and, in turn, make them more effective advocates.. Amanda further contributed to Boyd Law School by serving as a Student Bar Association class representative, President of the Nevada Justice Association: Student Chapter, and as a member of Boyd’s Wellness Committee. Finally, as a Boyd Law student, Amanda co-founded the Nevada Justice Association Mock Trial Competition which continues today. This endeavor not only demonstrates Amanda’s dedication to becoming an excellent trial attorney, but also shows her commitment to bettering Nevada’s legal community. Through this competition, students now have the rare opportunity to practice their advocacy abilities in a trial setting before leaving law school.Amanda spends her time using her unique background and talent to aggressively pursue justice for her clients. In her spare time, she gives back to the community by practicing as a Children’s Attorney Project pro bono attorney through the Nevada Legal Aid Center.
