Katie Meyer is an Associate Attorney at the Bleisch Law Firm, where she practices immigration law.  Her areas of experience include family-based immigration, refugee and asylum law, naturalization law, removal (deportation) defense, and legal protections for immigrant victims.  She has presented trainings on various aspects of immigration and refugee law and policy, and has served as an immigration expert on discussion panels and in media interviews.  She has taught Immigration Law and Policy, as an Adjunct Professor, at Washington University School of Law.  Until 2009, she was the Legal Director at Interfaith Legal Services for Immigrants (“ILSI”), where she managed the agency’s legal programs and served as a field supervisor for students in the Washington University clinical program.  She previously worked as Staff Attorney at Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, and interned in Senator Edward Kennedy’s Immigration Subcommittee’s Office.  She is a graduate of the Washington University School of Law, where she was presented with several awards for her dedication to public service and public interest law.

Jim Hacking has practiced law in the greater St. Louis area since 1997. While immigration law is his primary focus, Jim has handled civil litigation for his entire practice. Jim applies his litigation skills to his immigration practice, successfully litigating numerous cases against the federal government for individuals waiting for years for citizenship and lawful permanent resident status. He also has successfully represented many clients facing deportation from the United States. I was born in Iran and shortly thereafter my parents moved to Spain. I lived in Spain for several years and subsequently in the small country of Andorra, high in the Pyrenees mountains between France and Spain. My entire formative education was through the French educational system. While living in Spain and Andorra, I learned Spanish and Catalan, and would spend parts of my summers attending schools in England and Italy where I learned the respective languages. I was a competitive alpine ski racer and played varsity soccer and rugby until I moved to the United States in 1983. I attended the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) receiving my Bachelor Degree in Political Science. Before attending Law School, I worked at a large firm in Los Angeles for 4 years before attending St. Louis University School of Law. I have been practicing law in Missouri as a member of the Missouri Bar since 1997, and have practiced exclusively for the past 23 years representing clients in Criminal & Family Immigration, Deportation/Removal Defense, Criminal Defense of Foreign Nationals, and Federal Immigration Litigation. My law partner Kimberly Cofman, is also my wife, and we have two beautiful children.

I have been practicing law since 1993 and I have been focused on immigration law since 2001.  I have experience working for the US Air Force as a Judge Advocate and I have worked as an executive for a startup software company and as a civil service attorney with the US Department of Defense.  I have founded several businesses besides my law firm--my favorite was a specialty coffee shop where I learned to roast coffee and became a certified barrista.. In my private life, I sing bass with several semi-professional groups and I serve as a board member, officer and leader of several local non-profit organizations.  I am a competitive bodybuilder as well.  I am a volunteer high school mock trial coach and judge.  When I get some free time from these activities I like to watch movies and read interesting books.
