“We care about you”. Do you really think any law firm would advertize or have a mission statement that they don’t care! Here is another interest tag line.. “Experienced and Professional” I have never seen an ad or mission statement that we have no experience and we are unprofessional. For Pete’s sake, lawyers are all professionals licensed by the Missouri Bar. Likewise you will see words such as “aggressive”, “compassionate” “serious” or statements such as “no recovery – no fee”, “we can help”, “Quality Legal Representation” and of course the always “free initial consultation”.. Every person and every case are different. There is no cookie cutter method of handling personal injury cases. I know that there are hundreds of lawyers in the metropolitan area who “handle personal injury cases”. Our goal is to provide you with the most information possible to help you understand how the system works and if you choose to hire my firm to advise you and keep you informed throughout the process. We want to make certain you have all the information to make the right decisions for you and or your family starting with the basics:
You won't find many lawyers that really earned their spot, but I am the exception. I grew up in real poverty and got out of it through hard work and force of will. Ask other attorneys about their background and you'll hear a lot that grew up with priviledge, and just got by because of whom they know. I grew tired of working at firms, and even government jobs, where performance did not matter, it was who you knew, so I started my own firm. Other lawyers love to give you a lot of talk, but they take on so many clients you won't get personal service once they get your money. I will work with you until the case is over, and prepare you for what will come after. Don't just be another paycheck for a large firm, get personal service.

Why a lawyer? This is a common question that I get from friends, family and even my kids. For me it came when I was in college. At the very mature age of 18 (insert sarcasm), I knew I was interested in the law and that’s about it. I grew up watching my parents go to work every day with dread. They worked hard and took pride in their work, but they were never excited about what they were doing. My mom told me about this concept of never working a day in your life if you liked what you did. Sign me up for that! I considered becoming a police officer; however, when I learned that fighting was commonplace, I abandoned that idea. I’ll talk and argue all day long, but I’m not signing up for a sucker punch to the face. If you just stand back and think about what police officers do, it’s pretty amazing. When others run away from gun fire, they run towards it. To many peoples’ surprise, it actually was a negative encounter with a dishonest police officer that sent me to law school. I oftentimes say, “There’s nothing better than a good cop and nothing worse than a bad one.” I have yet to hear someone disagree. I have been a lawyer since 2006. Lawyers typically meet people when they are going through hard times. One thing that I can offer is The Golden Rule. At least that is what it was called when I was young. “Treat others the way you want to be treated;” I can hear my mom saying now. I have found that using my knowledge, abilities and experience to help good people going through hard times has given me that thing I wanted as a not-so-mature 18-year-old - “If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life.”
When a high-profile individual is forced to address a legal matter in the media spotlight, Neil Bruntrager is often hired to handle the case. Three words are repeatedly used by clients to describe me -- down to Earth. When you contact my law firm, you will meet with me, the attorney who will handle your case from beginning to end. I can also come to you whether you are in the hospital or at your home. You will be given my cell phone number and e-mail address. We will make it our business to get to know you and what your specific needs are.. You will never be just a file number or a case to us. As challenging as this experience may be for you and your family, you can rely on us to give you the compassion, help and support you deserve. I not only have legal experience. I have life experience.. I am prepared to put my many years of legal experience, knowledge and courtroom skills to work for you. Your goals become our goals.. I am a lifelong resident of St. Louis, and grew up near the white water tower on East Grand Ave. I graduated from Rosati-Kain High School in the Central West End. After marrying my high school sweetheart and while raising a family, I attended the University of Missouri St. Louis (UMSL) and graduated Summa Cum Laude.. Since graduating from St. Louis University School of Law and receiving a Juris Doctor degree in 1992, I have been in private practice representing injured persons in Missouri, Illinois, and the Federal courts. It is the only type of law I have ever practiced or wanted to practice.. Paralegal Nichole Faust and I have worked together as a team for over 15 years. We get to know our clients on a personal basis and focus on their needs and goals. Our clients and their families have been injured physically and/or emotionally as a result of someone else's negligence. We treat clients with "small" cases the same as those with "big" cases. Cases are "big" to those going through them. Nichole and I never lose sight of that fact.. My trial experience began very early in my career. My first trial was before a St. Louis jury -- two weeks after passing the Missouri Bar Exam. From that day on, I have relished the challenge of convincing jurors to return verdicts in favor of my clients. I have never taken a case to trial without fully believing that my client deserved the compensation I requested from the jury or judge. An attorney who once argued against me in court stated that I was not a lawyer. He said rather that I was a "pit bull with jewelry." I took that as a compliment.. Over the years, there has been a trend toward taking a case to mediation before it is tried in court. For most of my clients, mediation has been a positive experience and oftentimes avoids the risk and stress of a trial for them. However, I want my clients to know that from the time I take their case, I have an eye toward taking it to trial if necessary. The cases in my firm belong to my clients, not anyone else. With guidance from me, the clients decide whether or not to accept a settlement or go to trial.. When away from work, I enjoy spending time with my husband of almost 40 years, my two daughters and seven (so far) grandkids. I am very involved in my Parish and community, love motorcycles, building/remodeling and scuba diving.
