After spending one year in Louisville, Kentucky, he moved with his family to Northern California and attended middle school and high school in Walnut Creek, California. He received his B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley in 1996 and his Master of Public Administration from California State University at Hayward in 1997. He received a Juris Doctor from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego in 2001.. Houman is an avid reader of books ranging in topics from law to medicine, psychology, history, economics, and politics. He aims to finish one book a week and likes listening to many of them in audiobook format while he works out at the gym. He feels that a lawyer’s education should not end in law school and that every opportunity should be taken to enhance one’s knowledge during the day.
