Marvin H. Firestone, MD, JD, FCLM, is a Past President of the American College of Legal Medicine and a board certified specialist in Medical Jurisprudence by the American Board of Law in Medicine.  He is a frequent lecturer at national medical law conferences and is a presenter for the Western Institute of Legal Medicine.. Dr. Firestone holds a medical degree from Temple University (1964) and a law degree from the University of Colorado (1980).  He was the Editor-in-Chief of Medical Legal Lessons, is Editor-in-Chief Emeritus of Legal Medicine Questions and Answers, and is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Legal Medicine and Deputy Editor of the Textbook of Legal Medicine, publications of the American College of Legal Medicine. He formerly held the Hirsh Chair at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. where he was professor at its Medical and Law Schools and School of Health Services Administration, teaching Legal Medicine, Psychiatry and the Law, and Legal Aspects of Hospital Administration.  Dr. Firestone provides medical-legal consultation and practices medical law.His legal practice primarily involves representation of physicians in cases involving hospital staff privileges, licensure, medical practice disputes and other complex medical legal issues.. I received my Juris Doctorate Degree from UC Hastings College of the Law with an emphasis in Criminal Law, and received my Bachelor's Degree from UC Berkeley in Rhetoric.  I am a Partner with the Law Offices of Galine, Frye, Fitting & Frangos, a civil litigation firm.. Presently, I specialize in the area of general civil litigation, specifically serious and catastrophic personal injury cases, professional malpractice, bad faith insurance, and business litigation. I specialize in cases involving complex issues of liability and damages. Prior to joining the Law Offices of Galine, Frye, Fitting & Frangos as an attorney, I worked with the District Attorneys’ office in San Mateo and San Francisco. I also practiced general civil litigation, specifically in the areas of real estate, contract disputes, and personal injury.. I also served as a JAG officer in the California State Military Reserve, which serves in assisting civil authorities during domestic emergencies and assisting in the mobilization and demobilization process of the National Guard. My duties involved serving as legal counsel to National Guard soldiers regarding domestic legal matters prior to and following their deployment, and other matters related to military law.
