Jason Benjamin has spent the past 22 years of his legal career (since 1995) immersing himself in the intricacies of family law and particularly child custody cases. He has personally handled more than 1000 cases where child custody is at issue.. He particularly welcomes families who have emergency custody, domestic violence or restraining order issues, as he can typically obtain appropriate orders within hours to protect you and the children.. From the beginning of his legal career, Jason has aggressively advocated on behalf of victims of domestic violence (even when domestic violence was not treated seriously by the courts). He understands the complexities of domestic violence such as why victims often return to abusers or leave their children with abusers before they make the final decision to permanently leave the abuser.. Jason utilizes his years of experience in the trenches of hard fought child custody trials to competently advise parties on the best route to tackle complicated and intertwined issues of mental health (particularly cluster b personality disorders such as histrionic, borderline, narcissistic and anti-social) and chemical dependency (particularly abuse of alcohol, opiates, methamphetamines and benzodiazepines).. When it comes to the courtroom, Jason is extremely comfortable and puts his clients at ease. There is no case too complex or too extreme for Jason to be willing to take it on. He is known by his colleagues for his confidence and persuasive argumentative skills and his trial experience is nothing short of prodigious. Many lawyers in the community are aware of his trial advocacy and often refer their clients to him for cases that are headed for trial.. Jason left Omak, Washington at 18 years of age and went off to the big city of Chicago where he attended Northwestern University. After obtaining his BA in Philosophy, he came back to Washington State and graduated from Seattle University School of Law in 1995. He and his wife have two daughters and enjoy various outdoor adventures.

I've been a construction lawyer in Seattle since 2004. This area of practice is all about figuring out the best way to work through disputes. It boils down to using leverage -- in the right way, and at the right time. And this part comes from knowing all the options. But my goal is to always provide the most practical range of options about what make sense going forward. And of course, what does not make sense. The key is weeding through the "static," which is true in construction law and in life.. Contracts, liens and bonds (public and private) are at the heart of my practice. My main goal is to be practical. Running my own firm lets me be flexible, and work towards the best solution possible. It might sound trite but it is true: I think of each client as if he or she were a friend, sitting next to me at a lunch table or at a bar.

I'm also a family guy who's happily lived in the Green Lake neighborhood of Seattle with for the last 10 years.. I spent my first several years out of college as an engineer working for the Boeing Company at Everett and Renton sites. But I soon decided to change careers and enrolled in the evening law program at Seattle University School of Law, while still working at Boeing. While in law school I had the opportunity to work in the Ronald E. Peterson Bankruptcy Clinic, which provided me experience in bankruptcy law. My experience working with in law clinic with actual clients was a key factor in my decision to practice bankruptcy law full-time and assist those facing financial hardship.. After graduating from law school, I volunteered for the King County Bar Association’s Housing Justice Project where I assisted tenants facing eviction proceedings. While this was a rewarding pro bono experience, I was more interested in bankruptcy and debt relief law. I signed up to be a volunteer attorney for the King County Bar Association’s Seattle Debt Clinic where my primary focus is helping low-income debtors who cannot otherwise afford an attorney file for bankruptcy protection. I continue to use my legal skills in practice and through volunteer work at the Debt Clinic to helping people obtain a financial fresh start in life.

I was born and raised in Seattle, attending Roosevelt High School. During the summers I had a number of jobs including a ride operator ("carny") at the Seattle center and a warehouse worker at Safeway. Following high school, I left Seattle for Los Angeles where I attended UCLA as an undergraduate from where I graduated early as an economics and political science major and left to travel. I was accepted into Boston University Law School and worked in Washington DC for two summers; the first for the Peace Corp in an administrative capacity evaluating recruiting techniques for high demand skills, and the second for the Federal Power Commission on a special home energy conservation program. My time in Washington DC coincided with Watergate and Nixon's resignation and was quite exciting. Following law school I returned to Seattle and after passing the bar, cut my teeth on the construction litigation surrounding the Kingdome. After three and a half years I took leave of the practice of law and traveled for one year around the world with my wife. I have been engaged in the active practice of law since my return. Following my return, my wife and I raised two great kids who are now young adults. I continue to be interested in travel and have enjoyed a number of adventures. I enjoy many sports including skiing. I collect wine. I continue to enjoy the practice of law and my clients.
I was born and raised in Seattle but spent over a decade living back East, in Washington D.C., Boston, Providence, and southern Massachusets. I feel like I have various homes, and gives me good perspective. Every case and client truly is different. to use the cliche.. I've been fortunate to have been able to practice laws from a wide variety as a angles. First, as a criminal prosecutor, then in civil insurance defense, and now as a criminal defense lawyer, personal injury lawyer, and pro tem judge.. I have a lot of trial experience. I've tried over 200 cases, including over 150 jury trials. In the criminal justice and personal injury field, you have to be a good trial lawyer to be a really good lawyer. To get the best result, you have to be willing to try every case. In that sense, trials are the great equalizer in our system--it's where the lawyers truly stand out.. I love playing tennis and running, but probably my favorite activity is reading. I've been reading military and political history for years. Now I love pretty much anything non-fiction, especially history, law, and politics.
I spent nine years practicing law with Dillon Eustace, a large Irish commercial law firm, five of which were spent managing the firms Asian office in Tokyo, Japan. Exvere specializes in providing strategic investment advice and M&A advisory services to Pacific Northwest businesses.
I specialize in working with clients to resolve their litigation problems using a combination of zealous advocacy and practical solutions.
