Later, I led the legal team at a Hong Kong-based brand protection consultancy, helping companies protect their IP and operations across Greater China, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.. With more than 35 years experience in federal criminal defense matters, my practice focuses on representing corporate employees and individuals in federal investigations, including grand jury investigations and investigations by federal administrative agencies such as the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Chemical Safety Board and the National Transportation Safety Board.. I grew up working in my family's construction company. I received by engineering training and Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy, West Point. After serving overseas for almost five years I came home to attend the University of Michigan Law School. I moved to Seattle in 1978 and started my practice, focusing almost exclusively on construction project issues. I became an construction arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association in 1980 and became a member of dispute resolution boards for large projects beginning in 1993. I now head the Kennewick, WA office of Schlemlein Goetz Fick & Scruggs, PLLC, continuing to focus my practice on construction project issues.
