I have been practicing law in Central Maryland, where I was born and raised, since 1998, leaving the law firm practice briefly to serve as general counsel and manager for a mid-size business in the construction industry.  Beyond business litigation and general counsel experience, I have a background in legislation and public policy that I have relied upon to represent clients in regulatory and legislative matters, including First Amendment issues, planning and zoning, and education.  The father of a special needs daughter, I take advantage of opportunities and forums that allow me to advocate to enhance the opportunties for disabled children.

Charles “Chaz” E. Remus, II was born and raised in Frederick, Maryland. He earned his B.S. in Business Administration summa cum laude from Towson University, where he was also a member of the Honors College. Chaz later earned his J.D. cum laude from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.. While at the University of Maryland, Chaz was an Article Editor for the University of Maryland Law Journal of Race, Religion, Gender, and Class.  He participated in the University of Maryland’s Mediation Clinic during his second year of law school, and mediated various contract and landlord/tenant cases at the Baltimore City District Court. He received the Clinical Legal Education Association (CLEA)’s Outstanding Clinical Law Student Award for his leadership and work with the Mediation Clinic, and was selected by his instructors to help supervise the clinic during his final year of law school.. Chaz began as a law clerk at Gordon & Simmons after his first year of law school in the summer of 2011, and has ably assisted the firm in working on civil cases including matters involving fraud, lender liability, contract, and defamation law.  Before working at Gordon & Simmons, LLC, Chaz also interned with the Law Offices of Peter G. Angelos, P.C. in Baltimore, Maryland in their Medical Malpractice and MTBE Contamination departments.. Away from the office, Chaz enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He is the son of two Frederick County Public School teachers, each of whom has taught at high schools in the City for over 35 years. Chaz played baseball throughout high school and also with the Frederick American Legion Post 11 baseball team. In his free time, Chaz also enjoys playing basketball and exercising.
