I'm a Family Law attorney with over 30 years of experience in Oakland County, Michigan. I have extensive experience in divorce, child custody, child support, and parenting time issues.
I was born in Highland Park, Michigan, the oldest of four children. My mother was a homemaker and my father a businessman who worked long hours. Mom and dad were both depression babies and children of Greek immigrants. Mom was an only child with a stay-at-home mother and resourceful father who managed a modest but comfortable living even in the hardest of economic times, but my dad’s situation was very different. Being one of five children with a disabled father and a mother who barely spoke English, he and his family grew up in poverty. He and his siblings peddled papers in Detroit from the age of eight to bring money home to help support the family.. My dad and his family’s experience growing up has greatly influenced my perspective of family, work and money. I have personally and professionally observed the benefits, burdens and complications that wealth, and the lack of it, imposes on families. I bring that perspective and experience, along with volumes of technical knowledge, to each and every estate and business planning engagement.. I earned my degree in accounting from Michigan State University (1992) and my law degree from the University of Detroit (1995). Following law school I worked for five years as a CPA with two local accounting firms. After leaving public accounting I worked for two local law firms until 2008 when I formed my own practice.. I enjoy the personal and business relationships I have developed with my clients and business colleagues over the years. I pride myself in helping my clients organize their personal estate and business affairs by offering practical solutions for them and their families to avoid or minimize unnecessary government processes and taxes.. My wife and I live in Beverly Hills, Michigan. We have two children. When I am not helping raise my family, I enjoy fishing, hunting and downhill skiing. I am also an avid reader of historical fiction and philosophy.
I specialize in providing mediation and arbitration services, proportionate and effective ADR methodologies, and neutral services to disputants. I work with organizations to develop strategic dispute resolution systems with critical stakeholders; conducting internal, confidential investigations of potential violations of corporate policies, and state and federal laws. also consult with legal departments and law firms in process improvement, project management, and the development of best practice processes.
I have handled criminal matters ranging from major offenses to town ordinances. As well as, business law ranging from contracts, advising, commercial litigation and debt collection. I've been successful in getting allegations such as DWIs and serious crimes outright dismissed or reduced to practically nothing. This wide breadth of experience to date has helped me handle and litigate legal matters, whether they are commercial, real estate, personal injury or criminal in nature.. (Attorney Advertising: Prior outcomes do not dictate future sucess)
I enjoy spending quality, free time with my lovely wife and lively three children.. I am a coach of one of my son's basketball team.. Besides coaching basketball, I also playing basketball as I close in on retiring from hoops. I also like to spend time reading, getting involved with my Church, and playing golf.
I believe in putting my experience to work in order to help people in their time of need. I want all my clients to get the best possible outcome in their cases, no matter what kind of situation they may find themselves in. I strive to put my clients in a better position both legally and personally. To me, justice is not just a word, it is an ideal that I strive to achieve for all of my clients.
I am proud to represent clients in whatever family law issue they may be facing, whether it be a divorce, a paternity case, a custody or parenting time dispute, a child or spousal support issue, or enforcement or modification of a previous court order. I limit my practice exclusively to family law because family law cases are important to the people involved in a way that no other kind of cases are. It is very rewarding to represent clients who are dealing with issues that really matter - not just to them, but to those who depend on them.. I provide my clients with the information and support they need to make informed, rational decisions about their goals and strategies for resolving whatever issues they face. This goal-oriented approach helps ensure that my clients' cases are resolved as quickly and cost-effectively as they can be. Whenever possible, my clients and I first attempt to reach their goals through cooperation with the other side. If those efforts are not successful, we use the tools provided by the court system to attain my clients' goals with the least possible emotional wear-and-tear along the way. Either way, the focus remains the same: helping my clients through a difficult time in their lives and achieving the best possible resolution.
I am committed to giving my clients the best legal experience. Clients will speak with me on the phone, in the office, and in court. I will listen to your concerns and help you achieve your goals. I will recommend to you a plan of action to resolve your legal matter. I will help you understand the law and empower you to make educated decisions about your legal matter.
