Prior to joining The Roop Law Firm, PLLC, I practiced corporate law with an internationally renowned corporate law firm.. As a former social worker and a parent of two children, I have unique insight into the challenges that family law issues create for everyone involved. Being a trial lawyer allows me the opportunity to protect teh interests of my varied clients. I have enjoyed the trial aspect of this pracitce immensely. Not all cases require a trial, in fact most do not. Alexander H. Xanttopoulos joined ROOP XANTTOPOULOS BABOUNAKIS PLLC in the Fall 2010, to focus primarily on family law. He has experience in all areas of family law including cases involving divorce, child custody, support, visitation and equitable distribution. Prior to joining ROOP XANTTOPOULOS BABOUNAKIS, Alex worked for several years at Greenspun, Shapiro, Davis and Leary P.C. as an associate and law clerk practicing in the areas of domestic relations, traffic, criminal defense and civil litigation. Alex received his bachelors degree from the College of Charleston and Juris Doctor, cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law. While attending law school, Alex clerked for the Honorable Judge Spencer Eig of the 11th Circuit in Miami Dade County. There he researched and drafted opinions for use in various criminal, civil and appellate decisions. During his second year, Alex was a member of the University of Miami Trial Advocacy Litigation Skills Team and a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society. Alex also was awarded the Dean’s Fellowship and was an Equal Justice Continuing Merit Scholar. Alex acquired experience during law school in the fields of Administrative, Estate Planning and Tax Law. He worked as a tax consultant for Gables Estates Tax & Advisory Services in Miami, FL, and as a judicial intern for the Honorable Judge Anne Yahner in the Office of Administrative Hearings in Washington, DC. Alex understands that these can be some of the most difficult and stressful times in a person’s life and enjoys the rewarding experience in helping people work through these problems. Alex was born in San Francisco, California and is a native of Northern Virginia.
