Sandra N. Ms. Busell advises clients in estate planning work focusing on business succession issues, where her experience as a Certified Public Accountant adds to her understanding.  Her deep wealth of experience also includes counseling clients on various Real Estate issues that arise relating to elders buying, selling and transferring of property, including helping families obtain reverse mortgages by using irrevocable trusts which allows the elderly family member to stay in their home and still protect the remaining equity for themselves as well as their children.  An integral part of her work is the protection of Medicaid benefits for special needs children and adults and their families.  This is often done through the creation of Supplemental Needs Trusts.. Ms. Busell is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.  She also serves as a Board Member with the Long Island Chapter of the American Heart Association and is an active member of the Planned Parenthood of Nassau County Action Fund Political Committee.. Ms. Busell is a frequent lecturer on estates, trusts and elder care law issues, speaking on behalf of National Business Institute, before numerous Church and other religious senior groups, as well as schools.. Ms. Busell is admitted to practice law in the State of New York, particularly, the U.S. District Courts in the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the U.S. Tax Court.  She obtained her B.B.A. from Baruch College of the City University of New York, and her J.D. from St. John’s University of Law.  Ms. Busell is proud to be a member of the National Academy of Elder Care Attorneys.

In addition to my other activities as a practicing commercial real estate attorney, I chair our Firm's Pro Bono Committee, where I not only supervise the intake of all matters, and coordinate the attorneys who will work on them, but also handle numerous real estate-related matters myself.. Also, I co-chair our firm's efforts to comply with "green" and LEED standards of conducting business.

My concentration is in commercial and multi-family residential real estate transactions, commercial leasing and secured financing.  I have represented investors, developers, landlords, tenants, businesses, institutional and private lenders and individuals in various transactions including the acquisition and disposition of office buildings, shopping centers and industrial properties, drafting and negotiation of leases for office, retail and industrial space, and real estate financings.. In addition, I work closely with the firm's Corporate practice group to provide real estate expertise in corporate sales, acquisitions and mergers.. I have served as a volunteer with the Make-a-Wish Foundation, a national organization dedicated to granting wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.
