My name is Erik I have been helping Iowans protect their rights since graduating from Drake Law School in 2001.  I practice primarily in workers' compensation helping injured workers and in personal injury law (car, truck and motorcycle accidents, dog bites, etc.).. I grew up in Des Moines and graduated from East High School. I worked my way through college while attending undergraduate at Iowa State, working for the city as a laborer and evenings for a hospital.  After Iowa State I went to law school at Drake where I graduated with Honors.  I am dedicated to helping Injured Iowans and with personal attention and hard work.

I grew up in Ida Grove, Iowa, and graduated from Ida Grove High School, where I participated in a variety of activities, including sports, music, community, and academic organizations. After high school, I attended the University of Northern Iowa, where I graduated with a degree in teaching.. I spent the first eight years of my career as a high school teacher and coach, mostly in the Chicagoland area. After eight years of teaching, I returned to Iowa to Drake University Law School, and graduated with high honors in 2008. During law school, I clerked at the Des Moines law firm of Hopkins & Huebner, P.C. After law school, I continued to work at Hopkins & Huebner, P.C., primarily helping clients with personal and work-related injuries.  Since 2016, I have been representing injured workers and clients with personal injuries at Platt Law Firm, P.C.. I care about my clients and their cases, which has helped me to build a strong reputation with my clients and in the legal community over my career. I am dedicated to listening to the problems your injuries are causing and getting you the medical treatment and benefits that you deserve.. In my time away from the office, I enjoys spending time with my wife and two children as well as our extended family. I like to travel to watch Major League Baseball in different stadiums and enjoy live music whenever possible. I follow the Iowa Hawkeyes—either live or from home.. I am a member of: Iowa Bar Association, Polk County Bar Association, Iowa Association for Justice, Iowa Association for Justice Workers Compensation Core Group and I participate in the Polk County Volunteer Lawyers Program.. Community Involvement. I have been involved in my community since growing up in Ida Grove, where I served as director of the local summer recreation program for two years. After I left for college, I coached youth teams for the recreation department in Cedar Falls. As a teacher, I worked in various capacities, including teaching computer and business classes for community members..
