Tara Bonzani began working for Carter & Civitello as a lawyer in October 2015. Since that time, she has assisted Attorneys Carter and Civitello in handling workers’ compensation and Social Security Disability cases.. She was born in West Haven, Connecticut and has resided in Connecticut most of her life. Tara worked as a legal assistant and paralegal for the firm from 2003 through 2012. During her nine years at the firm, she handled all Social Security Disability cases and received her BS in Sociology from Southern Connecticut State University. Today, Tara still handles the majority of Social Security Disability cases in the firm.. In 2012, Tara left Carter & Civitello to attend law school in Washington, D.C. at the University of the District of Columbia, David A. Clarke School of Law, a public interest law school widely recognized for its legal clinic program. While attending law school, she was elected Treasurer of the Women’s Law Society and completed over 700 hours of legal work as a student attorney in the Juvenile and Special Education Law Clinic and the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic. In the summer of 2014, Tara worked as a law clerk for Attorney Stephen Shechtel of Rockville, Maryland, working on family and civil matters. She graduated Cum Laude in May 2015 and was sworn into the Connecticut Bar on November 2, 2015.. Tara has been working in the legal field since the age of nineteen and after years of hard work, she is proud to return to Carter & Civitello as an associate lawyer. In her free time, Tara enjoys cooking and writing. She is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association and is currently residing in Meriden, Connecticut.

Donna Civitello is a partner at Carter & Civitello in Woodbridge, Connecticut. She concentrates her practice in the areas of workers’ compensation and Social Security disability. She graduated from Yale University in 1978 and from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1986.. She is an author, along with Robert Carter, Jason Dodge, Jim Pomeranz and Lucas Strunk, of Connecticut Workers’ Compensation Law, a legal treatise. She also authored Injured on the Job, a handbook for injured workers and union representatives.. Donna is a Fellow of the College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers, a national organization of pre-eminent workers' compensation attorneys, and serves on the Chairman’s Legal Advisory Committee to the Connecticut Workers’ Compensation Commission. She has been Editor-in-Chief of Compensation Quarterly, a magazine for Connecticut workers’ compensation practitioners, and is currently a member of its Editorial Board.. She is a former member of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Workers’ Compensation Certification, and now serves on its Examining Committee. She has been an adjunct professor of law at the University of Connecticut School of Law, where she taught a workers’ compensation course along with her husband and law partner Bob Carter, and the Hon. John Mastropietro, Chairman of the Connecticut Workers' Compensation Commission.. Donna has been listed annually in Best Lawyers in America, Woodward/White, since 1995 to the present, has been named a member of The Outstanding Lawyers of America, is named in The Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers, and is a New England Super Lawyer. She is a recipient of the 2006 ConnectiCOSH Irving Selikoff award.. Donna is married to Bob Carter, and lives in Southbury, Connecticut. She loves to dance, garden, and sew.

When I am not working with my business or family clients, I have fun spending time with my husband and three children.  Besides being active in the legal community, I am on the Board of Directors of Woodbridge Aquatic Club and I do my best to find time to volunteer at my children's schools and in my community. I enjoy running and cooking, and I love to read nonfiction.
