Vincent Miner is an associate at the firm, focusing primarily in the area of insurance defense. Vincent attended the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. During law school, Vincent participated in the externship program, allowing him the opportunity to extern for Judge James A. Teilborg of the United States District Court for the District of Arizona, Judge John W. Thompson of the Arizona Court of Appeals, and Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Vincent also received the CALI Award for academic excellence in his Writing for Law Practice class. Vincent graduated magna cum laude and became a member of the Order of the Coif, recognizing academic excellence. I have been practicing environmental law in Arizona and throughout the Southwest with an emphasis on water quality, water rights, environmental compliance auditing, solid and hazardous waste, mining and mined land reclamation and remediation, toxic substances and Superfund matters for the past 30 years. I have a nationally-recognized water quality practice and I work closely with my clients on federal, state, and local levels to develop workable strategies to promote development and expansion of both industrial and mining operations. I participate activitely as a member of the Arizona Mining Association Water Quality Subcommittee (I currently serve as the vice-chair of that subcommittee).  I also serve as the co-chair of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry Water Quality Subcommittee (formerly the Arizona Association of Industries Water Quality Subcommittee), a position I have filled since 2001.

I grew up in a construction family in the Midwest.  Several generations of my family are involved in the construction industry and as a result I started working in construction, surveying, and engineering when I was in grade school.  This has given me a unique perspective on the practical issues in construction, design, and environmental matters.. As a civil engineer I designed hydroelectric dams, tunnels, water treatment plants, and navigation facilities, and conducted construction site supervision of the Chicago Tunnel and Reservoir Plan and Chicago Freight Tunnel.  For instance, I was one of the original conceptual designers of the civil engineering portions of the Montgomery Point Lock and Dam, which after it was completed, was named 2007's most impressive engineering achievement in the nation with the "Grand Conceptor Award".  The Tunnel and Reservoir Plan better known as the Deep Tunnel is one of the largest civil engineering projects ever undertaken and has received numerous awards.  The awards include being named as the most significant public works project in Illinois of the 20th century, and it was named by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency as one of the nation's top Clean Water Act success stories and is serving as a model urban water management tool worldwide.  The picture above is me in the deep tunnel - 330' below the ground.. In addition, I work with industry trade associations to review and comment on federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations and represent Clients before federal and state courts. Elizabeth "Betsy" Alongi practices in the areas of real estate law, business law, family law, and appellate law.  Prior to practicing law, Ms. Alongi served as a law clerk for the Honorable James B. Sult of the Arizona Court of Appeals.

Clark L. Derrick began his legal career in Phoenix in 1972 after having graduated, with distinction, from the University of Arizona, College of Law and entering into the practice with John J. Flynn and the firm of Flynn, Kimerer, Thinnes & Derrick. While a student at the University of Arizona, College of Law, Mr. Derrick was Symposium Editor of the Arizona Law Review and was elected a member of the Order of the Coif. He received his undergraduate, Bachelor of Arts degree in 1968 from the University of Arizona; graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.Mr. Derrick is a certified criminal law specialist; devoting his entire practice to criminal defense work with a particular emphasis on white collar offenses at both the federal and state levels. Obtaining a full defense verdict in an Arizona state court for a national petroleum distributor after a three week jury trial where the Plaintiffs were seeking approximately $14 million in damages due to the alleged migration of petroleum hydrocarbons onto its property.
