I was born and raised in Northeast Missouri in a small town of 450 people. I graduated with honors from Novinger High School while being a member of the basketball, baseball, track & field and academic teams. I went on to attend Hannibal-LaGrange University in Hannibal, Missouri, where I continued my basketball career. I graduated with honors and received a B.S. in Administration of Justice. After college, I attended the University of Tulsa’s College of Law, where I focused on criminal law and criminal procedure.. I currently do what I have always aspired to do, and I love nearly ever second of it. Practicing law is my passion, but when I am not doing so, I enjoy playing/watching basketball, as well as most all sports.

I understand what it is like to struggle. I grew up poor and I have worked for everything that I have. My father was a steel worker and my grandfather was a sharecropper. Growing up I wrestled, boxed, played football and baseball.. I am a veteran and served in the Navy. I worked my way through college washing dishes, delivering newspapers, delivering pizzas, repossessing cars, and bouncing in bars.. I'm married with two daughters. I work hard to give my daughters the opportunities that I never had.. I have had over 30 jury trials as lead counsel. I have tried cases in state and federal court. I continually work hard to improve my skills as a trial attorney. I attended Gerry Spence's Trial Lawyer college. I read trial practice books, psychology books, communication books; anything that will improve my trial skills.. Other than the law; I love cigars, baseball and photography. (In that order.)

I have built my legal philosophy around the idea that all people should have an avenue to justice when injured or lost money due to the wringful act of another and that the criminal justice system only protects the right of citizens when people charged with crimes are afforded the representation necessary to zealously protect their rights and freedom. I am orignially from Fairbanks, AK, a blue collar town in the middle of nowhere.  Growing up in an atmosphere like Fairbanks contributed alot to the person that I am today. It instilled in me a strong work ethic, even in highschool if you weren't working 60 hrs a week during the summer time then your friends would joke that you had an easy job, that carries over to my practice today. Growing up in Fairbanks also instilled a sense of self reliance and a drive to overcome obtacles that has stayed with me through out my life.. Many people ask "How'd you end up all the way down here in Oklahoma?" My family is orginally from Oklahoma going all the back to the land rush days. My parents, grandparents, and Aunt and Uncle all moved to Alaska in the late 70's to pursue new oppurntunities in the last frontier.  After highschool I spen several years playing Junior hockey and finally had to realize that a sports career was never going to pay the bills. Upon that realization I knew I had to look to a career and didn't want to work in the bitter cold of the oild fields of Northern Alaska.  My sister was attending OU at the time and filled out an application for me and it came back that I was accepted, so off I went.. I graduated from OU in 4 years and then attended the University of Tulsa College of Law where I graduated in 2006. I had orginally planned to move to Washington State to be closer to home and passed the bar examination there before deciding that I would return to OKlahoma. I was licensed to practice law in OKlahoma in 2007 and immediately began working as an Assisstant Attorney General for the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. I worked for the Nation for approximately 1 1/2 years before leavine to open up my own firm in 2008.. I have tried over a dozen jury trials, in both state and federal court, from misdemeanor assault and battery cases to a death penalty case. I am constantly trying to improve my trial skills by attending various seminars (e.g. Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College Death Penalty Course, Colorado Method of Voir Dire in Boulder colorado as well as the Pat Williams Criminal Defense Institute).. I am currently married and have 2 children.. My practice focuses entirely on criminal law and I am dedicated to protecting the rights of my clients above all else.

I advise and represent individuals in high-stakes matters involving financial disputes, including asset valuation, property division, monetary support claims, and white-collar investigations. I am a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, an organization that promotes the highest degree of professionalism and excellence in the practice of family law. I am also a fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers.. My job is to give the best advice that I can to each client during the most stressful time of their life. I work hard to continue my education and training so I can provide superior guidance and information and help my clients make important decisions about their legal and financial situations. After law school, I completed SMU's year-long certified financial planner program to enhance my knowledge of investments, retirement, insurance, taxation, and estate planning and better serve my clients.. The statistics say that most cases settle by agreement. Most criminal cases end with a plea deal, and most lawsuits and divorces are resolved by agreement. But not all cases settle. I go to court and try the cases that don't settle. People seek me out when they have been falsely accused or when they are being bullied or pressured to take a bad settlement. Many times I am hired just weeks or even days before trial. My background is in trial work, and I am board-certified as a family law trial lawyer by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.. I spend a lot of time in seminars and other programs with plaintiff's attorneys and criminal defense lawyers. I have worked with psychologists and coaches across the United States to improve my advocacy skills. Following my training and my experience in family law, civil, and criminal cases, I have developed a process for handling cases that incorporates best practices from those fields. My process is designed to optimize the client's opportunities for favorable settlement while simultaneously preparing for trial. The process works. I have obtained favorable outcomes for my clients in negotiation, at trial, and on appeal.. My law firm has offices in Tulsa, Sapulpa, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and in Bentonville, Arkansas.
