When I’m not advocating for my clients, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and supporting my community. As a proud father, I understand the importance of protecting what matters most, whether that’s a loved one, a dream, or a future. Outside of the office, I enjoy fishing and believe in balancing hard work with relaxation. I’m also deeply committed to giving back, and I actively participate in local charity events and initiatives. My approach to law is rooted in integrity, and I always aim to make a positive impact—whether in the courtroom or in the community.
When I was still a child and too young to understand why, my grandfather, barely a senior citizen, died of complications resulting from conditions and injuries suffered while he worked in the coal mines of West Virginia almost 100 years ago. When my grandfather came to America alone as a teenager to find what he imagined was a better life, he didn’t speak the language. Consequently, overworked and forgotten, he was subjected to the dangerously unsafe and unthinkable working conditions. But when he died years later, I was too young to understand why there was not a claim to make my grandmother and family whole again. Consequently, she suffered again – this time financially, because her relatively young husband was taken far too soon. Consequently, she lived a long life, but very poor.. A few years after the death of my paternal grandfather above, my maternal grandfather died of heart and lung disease – the direct result of being a lifelong smoker. In the days before “Big Tobacco” litigation, no claim make made for him either, and my family suffered again. These two great injustices in my formative years were the motivating force for me to become a champion of victim’s right. I knew even as a child that I would one day become a personal injury attorney. It was, at the time, the thing which gave my life a purpose and direction.. Working hard to achieve this goal, I received a business economics degree and later graduated Florida State Law School in 1992 from the Florida State University Law School, where I served on the Law Review (which is a special privilege for high-achieving students). I won numerous accolades while earning the degree of Doctorate of Jurisprudence (J.D.). After law school, the only firms which were hiring (or paid well enough to pay the rent) were large law firms defending the insurance companies or other “big business” interests responsible for injury to other. I later found out why – insurance companies can afford to hire the best attorneys straight out of law school.. But working for the “defense” was never a fit for me -- emotionally or morally. I felt like a square peg trying to fit into a round hole. I truly believed that the law should work FOR THE PEOPLE and not for big defense interests like insurance companies. A few years later, I broke away from doing defense work for ANY insurance or defense interest. Finally, I founded the injury-specializing Romano Law Firm represent only victims – and never insurance companies or big business defense. We represent only plaintiffs. We at the Romano Law Firm represent ONLY individuals. Only you -- so we avoid any possible conflicts of interest.. I became fulfilled when I came to the plaintiff side to champion the rights of victims. However, working for the “enemy” very early in my career made me especially aware of how well-armed, well-prepared and well-financed they are, and just how effective the defense and insurance companies can be at subduing or minimizing legitimate claims – even very serious claim or lawsuits which included broken bones, head injury, loss of use, and every kind of injury or death case.. We sometimes think of insurance companies and their representatives as “friends” (at least when we deal with our own). But we should never be blind to the fact that the moment you become involved in an accident, their financial interests became adverse to yours. Insurance companies do not become multi-billion dollar entities through their generosity. One thing that insurance companies would like you NOT to know is that claims and lawsuits where the injured party is represented by a personal injury attorney result in a higher result than unrepresented injured people or accident victims. This is not speculation, but rather A FACT based on the insurance companies’ own statistic (See also our May 21 blog about the injury insurance industry).. A few years ago, Jesus Christ became a very big part of my life – and so a big part of my law firm. I became a better injury attorney in Oklahoma. Born in a place very much like Tulsa, I see myself and the roots of my family when I walk around Tulsa. This keeps me in touch with my core values—first as a child, now as a proud resident of Oklahoma. I am an advocate for injury victims in Tulsa and throughout Oklahoma, as well as other jurisdictions in these United States. I believe in fair compensation for my clients – for both economic damages and personal injuries they may have suffered, whether very serious, involving paralysis, dismemberment, or death. Even though an injury may initially seem to be non-incapacitating, involving “whiplash” or minor property damage, after an accident involving injury, people often need help picking up the pieces of their work, life and family. Often there is a legal remedy which can be achieved without litigation.. If you or someone you know is injured through the fault of another, do not delay to call The Romano Law Firm. Because of the many traps for the unwary victim or auto or motorcycle negligence a delay could make you a victim of your injury a second time. Failure to find an experienced injury trial attorney could jeopardize your claim. Sometimes the simplest solution is also the best one: to use a Counselor who knows the Way. That is why we are here. We want to step into the gap for you and help you find your Way!
When I was seven, my family's home was destroyed by a tornado at 2:22AM on 2/22/1975. The insurer refused to pay for our home so we lived in a barn for an extended period. Ever since then I have always had a burning desire to hold insurance companies accountable. So when I decided to start a new lawfirm with my kids, 222 Injury Lawyers seemed like a natural choice for the name. Let us know if we can help you.

Tulsa divorce attorney Colby C. Pearce spent a large portion of his career defending large insurance companies and corporations in lawsuits, but he didn’t feel he was making a positive impact in the lives of everyday people. That’s why he made the switch to family law.. “The practice of family law allows me to connect with individual clients on a personal level while also guiding them during one of, if not the most, difficult times in their lives,” Mr. Pearce said.. By nature, Mr. Pearce is a very honest person, and he feels this carries over into the way he practices law.. “I feel this allows me to gain the rapport of others, including judges and opposing counsel, which, in turn, can have a positive outcome in my client’s case,” he said.. Mr. Pearce urges his clients to allows remain patient. Unfortunately, the judicial process is not always as fast as one might prefer. Sometimes, delays occur which are outside of anyone’s control and this can be frustrating for those who have never experienced the legal process in action.. “With a little patience and understanding, my clients and I will get through this process together and work to achieve the most beneficial outcome for my client,” he said.

Through zealous representation of my clients I have won hundreds and hundreds of cases. My comprehensive knowledge of the Social Security law and regulations coupled with my diligent development of my cases has made me one of the top representatives in the Tulsa area. I graduated with distinction from the University of Oklahoma in 2001 where I was bestowed with the honor of the Maehl Award. I then graduated with distinction from the University of Oklahoma, College of Law in 2004 with two academic achievement awards. During law school, I served as the business manager of the Oklahoma Journal of Law and Technology and was a member of the American Indian Law Review. During law school I graduated from the Interdisciplinary Training Program through the University of Oklahoma Health and Science Center College of Medicine. I am admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Oklahoma, Northern District of Oklahoma, Eastern District of Oklahoma, and the 10th Circuit US Court of Appeals. I am a member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimant’s Representatives (NOSSCR). I am frequently asked to speak at seminars, support groups, and mental health facilities in the Tulsa Metro area on matters relating to Social Security disability benefits.. Every day I encounter people who have had their lives turned upside down by medical conditions that have left them unable to work. Through no fault of their own, they're left to suffer not only with a condition they didn't ask for but some are even pushed into financial hardship, because they can no longer work. Let's face it, the bills don't stop coming in the mail, just because someone can't work. Some react to a situation like this with a hopeless attitude, but others take a more optimistic attitude and try to get help from any and every source possible. Since January of 2005, I have had the privilege of working with hundreds and hundreds of individuals looking to navigate the complex, bureaucratic mess that is the Social Security System. My system of taking clients individually and walking them through the maze of red tape and getting them approved for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and/or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) has been very successful. Unlike most attorneys who will take on any case of any variety, I choose to focus only on SSI and SSDI cases. in fact, it is all I do. (I like to think this gives me an advantage, since I can address all of my cases with laser focus.). The Difference. My law practice is different than many others because it's dedicated solely to criminal defense and medical marijuana law. So, I'm not spread out with multiple areas of practice like a lot of other attorneys.. Secondly, I'm able to give personal, one-on-one attention to my clients. I do this first with a free initial consultation. You won't have your case assigned to a junior attorney or have little contact with me, leaving you wondering what's going on with your case.. Criminal Defense. I've been representing people with legal needs for nearly two decades. But the number of years that an attorney has practiced isn't the only important experience factor. You'll get an attorney with the RIGHT KIND of experience. When it comes to being charged with a crime, you want someone who focuses on criminal defense. Think about it. Would you hire a divorce attorney to handle your criminal charge? Of course not.. You'll get a strategic fighter. I aggressively represent my clients. I dig into the evidence or the lack of it. I look for holes in the prosecutor's case and I work to get unfavorable evidence thrown out. I rock the boat and challenge the prosecutor and law enforcement while still adhering to professionalism and ethical practices.. Medical Marijuana Law. Oklahomans legalized medical marijuana in June 2018 through the approval of State Question 788 (SQ 788). But I was way ahead of the game. Even before SQ 788 passed, I was a Legal Committee member of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), and I still am today. I gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in marijuana law well before SQ 788 passed. And, I have knowledge and experience with the new medical marijuana laws and regulations. I even offer compliance auditing services for Oklahoma medical marijuana dispensaries, growers and processors.. The Bottom Line. So, when you hire me, you know that you have a knowledgable, experienced and skilled attorney on your side. Call me at to schedule your free initial consultation. Steven D. Swant takes his role as an advocate very seriously. He understands that when he is retained to represent a person, his function as Attorney and Counselor at Law is to act as that person’s voice in the courtroom and to counsel that person as to the best course of action considering all factors that may potentially affect the course of their life. Mr. Swant believes very strongly that people have the right to live their lives free of unreasonable government actions.
