I have served on the board of directors for the Wichita Symphony Society for over 25 years. I am also an active Rotarian, having served as club president of one of the largest and oldest clubs in the world.
I have been practicing law since 2003 and have tried more than 40 jury trials and numerous non-jury trials throughout my career. Currently, 100% of my practice is dedicated to seeking justice for those injured by the negligence of others.. Background: After graduating from Heidelberg University where I was a four-year member of the wrestling team, I attended the University of Miami School of Law. After graduating from law school, I began my legal career as a prosecutor in Florida, where I tried case after case before Florida juries. This prosecutorial experience honed my skills as a litigator and kindled within me a true passion for the courtroom.. Driven by service, I joined the Unites States Army Reserve in 2004 as a member of the Army JAG Corps and I continue to serve as an Army reservist today. My military service has included nearly eight years of active duty military law practice, including a deployment to Iraq in 2010, where my primary missions were to partner with Iraq Army lawyers as part of the U.S. effort to help develop and grow the Iraq judicial system, as well as to investigate and pay claims made by Iraq nationals for alleged damages caused by coalition troops. From helping to deliver computers, printers, and copiers to a civilian courthouse in downtown Baghdad, to traveling to numerous Iraqi Army bases for meetings, to making cash payments to locals whose claims for damages had been verified, my overseas experiences helped to solidify an appreciation for our U.S. system of justice. I currently hold the military rank of Major and I'm a graduate of the U.S. Army’s Airborne and Air Assault schools, among others.. From 2007 – 2012, and in between military mobilizations, I practiced law at John Madden, P.A. in Stuart, FL, where I was able to earn a number of excellent results for our civil litigation, criminal defense, and family law clients. My Army service eventually led to a consecutive six-year active duty period of service from 2012 – 2018, during which I served at Fort Knox, KY; Charlottesville, VA, where I earned a Master of Law degree in military law; and, finally, at the 451st Expeditionary Sustainment Command here in Wichita, KS, where my family and I chose to remain after leaving active duty.. I am licensed to practice law in Kansas state and federal courts, as well as in Florida and Texas, and I am a member of the Wichita Bar Association and the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association.. It is my commitment to work tirelessly on behalf of my clients. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and kids, staying in shape, and training in martial arts.
I have been an attorney for 30 years, focusing solely on family law since 1995. My aspiration is to fulfill Micah 6:8: to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly.
I earned my undergraduate degree from the Kansas State University and my law degree from University of Kansas School of Law. While at KU, I served as Research Assistant to Associate Dean Christopher Drahozal and had the honor of serving as a clerk for the Honorable Melissa T. Standridge, Kansas Court of Appeals. I graduated from the University of Kasnas in 2017. I joined Fleeson, Gooing, Coulson & Kitch in 2017 and practice primarily in the area of civil litigation. I am a member of the Wichita Bar Association and the Kansas Bar Association.
I began my criminal law career at the Miami County Attorney’s Office under Elizabeth Sweeney-Reeder. During my time as a prosecutor I worked in Juvenile, Domestic Violence, Misdemeanor Traffic, Misdemeanor Crimes, Field and Game, DUI, and Felony Failure to Register cases. This broad spectrum allowed me to gain great knowledge of criminal law. After leaving the County Attorney's Office in December of 2017, I then went to work for Cameron & Herrman, P.A, a very well-known firm in Wichita, Kansas. I work zealously to defend the rights of my clients in Criminal, Traffic, DUI, and Family Law.
I am married and also have two wonderful friends. My wife, Shelley works with me. I am blessed with a wonderful daughter. She and her husband and their four children live in Lawrence, Kansas. I volunteer time to many orgainzations but my focus in life is family and helping my clients.
I am born and raised in Wichita, Kansas and got my undergraduate degree from Wichita State University. I love my city and that is why I decided to open up shop in downtown Wichita upon completing my legal education in Florida. I hate to use the cliche, but Dorothy was right: "there is no place like home.". I practice estate planning: wills, trusts, power of attorneys, and I love what I do. I am passionate about my work because I get to meet new people every day, and get to apply a hard earned education to help people acheive peace of mind and security for thier families. I see my work more as an opportunity to build relationships rather than simply perform mindless tasks. I don't care how much effort is put into mastering the law of wills and trusts; if a client doesn't feel comfortable telling me thier hopes and desires for thier future, I cannot create an effective plan, and I have failed at my job.. I want to get to know you, and build a lasting relationship. Hopefully, you will notice that immediately when you give me a call.. Know that, if you decide to come for a consultation, you will recieve my undivided attention. My focus is on estate planning so I am not split in different directions trying to keep up on changes in the law.. Cost is always a concern for individuals when pursuing any kind of legal service. Creating an estate plan is an important process, and I don't want any of my clients fearing that they will be surprised by a huge bill. You will know what the cost is before we get started, and I will always check in first about any additional costs that may come up.. I would be delighted to help you create security for you and your family's future.

I then decided to pursue law and attended Washburn University School of Law. Following law school, I worked for the Kansas Court of Appeals before returning home to Wichita in early 2008 to join Hinkle Law Firm. My practice focuses primarily on estate planning. I enjoy estate planning because it gives me the opportunity to help people solve problems and draft documents to carry out their final wishes. My clients trust me to help them with the largest financial transaction of their lives. My experience helps me to find solutions to my client’s problems, and practicing with the Estate Planning Group at Hinkle gives me the opportunity to leverage the experience of my partners, paralegals, and staff to find the best solutions to solve a client’s particular challenge in protecting their hard-earned assets and building their legacy.. Part of my responsibilities include educating the public on the need for estate planning, encouraging them to ‘Choose to Plan’, and helping to explain the estate planning process. I regularly present estate planning seminars to the Wichita Women’s Investment Education programs, church groups, and at other community programs. I also serve an educational role for the firm, as the Director of Hinkle’s Associate Recruitment and Associate Development programs..
