Laura Copp graduated from St. Mary's University School of Law in 2017 and took the bar in July of that year. She began her career working in a public defender's office with a primary focus on criminal defense. She also has experience in family law, probate law, and estate planning.

Prior to opening my solo practice I spent 5 years as an assistant district attorney and 5 years as a staff attorney for the 7th Court of Appeals in Amarillo.. I believe that as an ADA and staff attorney, I have gained insight into how a case is prosecuted and what the State "should be doing" to prove a case.   As an advocate for a person charged with a crime, you can rest assured that I will protect the accused's constitutional rights.

I graduated from law school 14 years ago. After law school I moved from California to Austin, Texas. I did not have a plan other than to take the bar, but I embraced the adventure of not knowing and took a leap. That leap has taken me places I never expected to be. But I believe that every single one of the experiences I've had since law school matter, because they have all shaped me into the attorney I am today. In 2012 I embraced another adventure, opening my own law office. In the time since I've opened my office I have experienced many different sides of the legal world. I have represented criminal clients in misdemeanors, felonies, and appeals. I have worked for parents trying to keep their children, husbands and wives trying to divorce with their dignity intact, and step-parents wanting to adopt their step-children. I have helped entrepreneurs launch their businesses, purchase property, and go after deadbeat clients. I am here to take on whatever cases are thrown at me.

Born and raised in New York City, I originally moved to the Capital District at attend Albany Law School.  I am now happy to call this area home, residing with my wife and twin toddlers in Albany.. I started my own practice because I believe that every legal problem benefits from a fresh perspective when determining the best course of action. Managing my own practice allows me the flexibility to devote as much time as necessary to meet all my clients’ needs. I pride myself in providing the support and responsiveness each client deserves, but often does not receive at a larger firm.. My legal experience is varied and I am comfortable addressing a range of legal issues. As an intern at the New York State Liquor Authority, I cultivated a broad foundation in administrative law. Working at the Authority, I helped to construct a winning argument in a case before the Third Appellate Department. Upon graduation, I was honored to receive Albany Law’s award for highest academic standing in administrative law. Most recently, I have been workingto pioneer a new area of law – civil litigation designed to help people who have been victimized over the internet. If someone is using the internet to try to hurt you, the law may be just what you need to fight back.. He is also Certified by the New York State Department of Education to serve as an impartial Hearing Officer and he is a Licensed Real Estate Broker in New York State. In the past he served a five year term as an elected trustee at the Guilderland Public Library.  He also served as a Pro Bono attorney in the Federal Court in Albany and acted as a Law Guardian on the Family Court panel in Albany County and Rensselaer County.
