The founder of the firm, Ian McKinley, is the son of an undocumented immigrant from Guadalajara, Mexico who had come to the United States as a young boy, and ultimately worked his way up to Stanford Law School, before passing away when Ian was 2 years old.. When Ian turned 15 years old, he decided to go live as an exchange student with a family in Puebla, Mexico in search of his lost Mexican heritage and because he wanted to learn Spanish. He fell in love with Mexico’s people, culture and lifestyle--so much so, that after graduating high school, he moved back to Puebla and began his undergraduate studies there at a private university called Universidad de las Americas (UDLA). When it was all said and done, he ended up living there for a total of more than 8 years.. Ian earned an (American) football scholarship playing as a wide-receiver for the UDLA Aztecas football team, completed a master’s degree in North American Studies and Political Science, and worked extensively with Mexico’s former Secretary of Economy and Foreign Affairs, Luis Ernesto Derbez Bautista, who was his master’s thesis advisor.. Ian eventually married the daughter of the family that hosted him when he was an exchange student, and their two sons are dual citizens of both the United States and Mexico.. Ian knew going into law school that with such life experience, he wanted to help serve the Spanish-speaking immigrant community living in this country. While attending the University of Colorado Law School, Ian was awarded the Edward C. King Award (the only faculty-voted award for outstanding leadership and achievement), served as a member on the Dean's Committee on Diversity, and became involved with the Latino Law Student Association. He founded the Longmont branch of the Aguirre Law Group in 2013 shortly after passing the bar exam. Both his time spent at law school and his life experiences led Ian to create the McKinley Law Group. Ian takes great pride in being able to provide an exceptional and personalized service for both the English and Spanish-speaking client in the areas of immigration, criminal, family and civil law

This shared connection aids Beeraj in constantly improving his services as an immigration attorney.. Beeraj Patel’s philosophy is simple – make it easy for talented and ambitious individuals to have access to immigration materials so that they can make the choice which is right for them. But the breadth of his abilities extends even further, incorporating a substantial amount of J-1, L-1 and E Visas (including EB5 investor visas). Over these years of practice, he has also become more than acquainted with the process of planning an initial PERM application, as well as guiding his clients through the entire Green Card process.. Although he practices immigration law professionally, Beeraj has not forgotten his roots and the hardship his parents had to endure in order to give him the wonderful opportunities he has had in his life. It is these memories which remind him to share his talents – especially with those who are eager and anxious to take a bold new step into their future.. Fairfax immigration attorney, Beeraj Patel, Esq. serves a wide array of clientele. Part of our success comes from my own immigrant roots.. In the mid 2000s I immigrated, somewhat reluctantly actually, to the United States as a permanent resident with my husband and 6 year old daughter. It wasn’t easy relocating, especially with a young child in tow, but it has been one of the best decisions of my life.. In 2007 I received my LLM from the University of Connecticut, but then actually moved back to India with my daughter. However, after a few months, we returned to the US and I began studying for the US bar while working as a paralegal.. I finally took the bar in 2009, and after a short stint in real estate and probate law, I plunged into immigration.. I worked in-house for a mid-size company for over a decade primarily managing their immigration work before starting Patil & Associates, LLC. During this time, I led immigration strategies and managed the company’s immigrant and non-immigrant caseload, along with labor and employment issues and contract negotiations.. Today, at Patil & Associates, LLC, I work with a team of highly dedicated professionals who are passionate about what they do and can make your immigrant journey seamless.
