I served in the Navy on active duty and in the Reserves for 20 years.  I am very interested in helping veterans realize the goal of starting a business or buying a franchise.  There are quite a few challenges a veteran may face in getting set up in a business, but I think it is a very viable option that veterans do not consider enough.  There are many issues, from forming the proper entity to financing to industry-specific regulations, that one must become aware of to be successful in launching a business.

I have worked in private law firms and in large companies on a wide variety of legal issues. I also own a business, and have real business experience. I draw on this experience to provide practical and competent legal advice to my clients.

I have been working in Syracuse on and off since I was a 13 year old file clerk in my Father's office.  After graduating from LeMoyne College I began my accounting career with the local firm of Dermody Burke & Brown. After 5 years with DB&B I went to Law School in California and found my way back to Syracuse to work with PriceWaterhouse Coopers.. I am very lucky to have had the opportunity to join Mackenzie Hughes LLP in 2000, and have developed a practice which focuses on advising individuals and businesses on financial matters ranging from business start ups to to succession planning and estate planning.  I also counsel not for profits on governance matters in addition to formation and dissolutions.. I live in Camillus with my husband and sons and currently am the immediate past-predisident of the Central New York Estate Planning Council.  I have also acted as a member of the LeMoyne College Board of Regents, the Samaritan Center Board and as a volunteer as numerous local charities and comunity causes including the Camillus Volunteer Fire Department.
