I grew up on a dairy farm in the town of Steuben in upstate New York, and during my teen years was active in the Future Farmers of Amercia and Remsen Central School marching band. I went to Brazil as an exchange student for my Senior year of high school, where I met lovely people, learned to speak Portuguese and eat unfamiliar foods, and traveled far and wide throughout Brazil.. Starting fall of 1983 I attended community college at Mohawk Valley Community College, studying Chemistry then Biology, then in 1986 went on to Plattsburgh State University where I graduated with a BS in Biology.. I worked in Puerto Rico as an intern in the Carribbean National Forest for about six months from March 1990 until August 1990. I then worked as a paralegal at Davis Polk and Wardwell in New York City from 1990 until 1993 when I left to attend law school. Starting the fall of 1993 I attended Vermont Law School, graduating in 1996.. I began my career as an attorney with Robert Gensburg, Esq. in St. Johnsbury in the fall of 1996, passing the bar and being sworn in in June, 1997. I became a partner in the firm in 2000, then we became Gensburg, Atwell and Broderick from 2001 until 2009. In 2011 the firm changed to Gensburg, Atwell and Greaves, which lasted until 2017. After Bob Gensburg's death in November of 2017, I went out on my own as an attorney on January 1, 2018.. As a person, I love a good adventure, whether traveling, taking on an unusual project (I built my own house) or starting a business (I have an active tree business in addition to my law firm). I also enjoy a good challenge -- I lift weights and compete as a strongman and in 2106 I won the US Strongman National Championship title for Lightweight Master's Division.
