SHIRLA R. McQUEEN graduated from West Texas State University (B.B.A., 1984) and the University of Kansas (J.D., 1987). She was admitted to practice in the state and federal courts in Kansas in 1987. Prior to joining Sharp McQueen, P.A., she served as Assistant General Counsel for the Kansas Corporation Commission from 1987-1991. Ms. McQueen joined Sharp McQueen, P.A., in 1991. She currently serves on the Kansas Board of Examiners of Court Reporters (2013-_____). Ms. McQueen is the City Prosecutor for the City of Liberal, Kansas, and the City Attorney for the City of Liberal, Kansas. She McQueen is a member of the Seward-Haskell County Bar Association, the Southwest Kansas Bar Association, the Kansas Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Kansas Bar Foundation, the Kansas Association of Defense Counsel (past Board member), the Defense Research Institute, Inc., and the Kansas Association of Hospital Attorneys. Ms. McQueen devotes the majority of her practice to civil litigation, criminal prosecution, health law, insurance defense, employment and workers’ compensation law.

Except for a brief couple years as an infant spent in Denver and one year in Scotland for graduate school courses, Mark Corder is a life-time resident of Kansas.  He graduated from Highland High School in 1966, obtained his B.Sc. from the University of Kansas, obtained a graduate degree from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, received a M.Sc. from University of Kansas, and in 1977 completed his J.D. (Cum Laude) at Washburn University.  He has been in private practice continuously since that time--always in Olathe.  Before combining forces with MaKenzi Higgins, Mark’s solo law practice could be described as “general civil” with primary areas of interest being in family law, real estate, and estate planning.. Mark and his wife, Elaine, celebrated their 45th anniversary in April, 2015 with a 3-week trip to China.  They have two adult children and three grandchildren, and have been active members of College Church of the Nazarene in Olathe for over twenty years.  Their son lives in Santiago, Chile where he is the deputy director of the largest telescope array in the world, their daughter lives in the Denver area and stays busy working and chasing after their grandsons. Mark is an avid birdwatcher—a hobby that takes he and Elaine to many of their international destinations.. Mark has been an area representatives for Youth for Understanding, an international student exchange program for high school students.  Mark and Elaine hosted seven of these young people over the years, with the oldest one now nearly 50 years old. Mark is an avid college basketball fan and recently has become keen on keeping track of the Royals.  Mark and Elaine were in San Antonio in 2008 to see their beloved Jayhawks win their most recent NCAA national championship.  They also love good food and the company of family and friends.

Nathaniel Martens is a native of Newton, Kansas and completed his undergraduate studies at Chadron State College in the Panhandle of rural Nebraska. While attending Chadron State, Mr. Martens remained committed to Kansas, returning to paint homes in the Newton-area during the summer months. He permanently returned to the state to attend law school at Washburn University School of Law. Mr. Martens enjoyed academic success at Washburn where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Washburn Law Journal, Volume 55, and was a two-time recipient of the J.L. Weigand Legal Education Trust Scholarship. He graduated from Washburn University School of Law in 2016, earning magna cum laude honors with receipt of his juris doctorate.. Mr. Martens joined Fleeson, Gooing, Coulson & Kitch in 2016 and practices primarily in the area of civil litigation.  He is a member of the Wichita and Kansas Bar Associations.

When I was growing up, there were 2 things that were unpopular in my house. One was me, and the other was INJUSTICE.  I couldn't stand it then and still can't stand now when justice isn't done.  My father was the youngest appointed judge in New Jeresy history and I learned early and often about the importance of the efficient and effective administration of justice. Robert M. Washburn is Professor Emeritus of Law at Rutgers School of Law–Camden and Of Counsel to Flaster Greenberg. He teaches Regulation of Land Use, Real Estate Transactions and Conveyancing, Housing and Urban Development, Property, and related seminars. Mr. Washburn's practice includes general real estate and development matters, including utility law, land use, real estate contracts and financing, syndications, homeowners association and condominium law, land use litigation, legislation and ordinance drafting and review, Planned Real Estate Development Full Disclosure Act registrations, and appearances before municipal bodies and administrative agencies. Among his clients are builders, developers, and construction industry trade associations.. Mr. Washburn has been a frequent lecturer at programs sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders, the New Jersey Builders Association.. He has served on many committees of the National Association of Home Builders, including the NAHB Smart Growth Working Group, Nationwide Permit Working Group, FRT Plywood Task Force, Legal Action Committee and Litigation Subcommittee. As a member of the New Jersey Builders Association (NJBA), he also has served on its Permit Reform Task Force. Mr. Washburn served on the Planning Committee of the National Judicial College, where he moderated and spoke at seminars, including "Trying and Settling Land Use Cases." He is a life member of the NJBA Board of Directors. He serves as General Counsel to the NJBA as well as to the Builders League of South Jersey (BLSJ). In 2006, the BLSJ inducted him as an associate into their “Hall of Fame.” Mr. Washburn is also a member of the Steering Committee of the Legal Action Network for Development Strategies (LANDS).
