Geoff Robinson's practice focuses on land use, development, and real estate litigation. He represents clients in civil and administrative proceedings involving planning and zoning laws, CEQA, development fees and exactions and public facilities financing.  He is an authority on writs of mandate in the trial court and is co-author of the treatise California Administrative Mandamus (CEB, 3rd Ed. 2007) and other publications on civil writ practice.  He also has substantial experience in the area of development exactions and has litigated numerous cases involving challenges to development exactions, mitigation requirements, and public financing districts. He continues to handle a broad range of litigation and transactional matters, including a groundwater basin rights adjudication, an action to enforce state housing element laws, a Voting Rights Act case, and a challenge to a wastewater treatment plant expansion.. Geoff has been an active participant in the firm’s pro bono program, representing individuals, non-profits and public agencies before state and federal courts, including several matters in the California Supreme Court.  He is the recipient of the firm’s first John J. Curtin Public Service Award and the California State Bar’s President’s Pro Bono Award.. Geoff served as law clerk to Judge Thomas J. MacBride of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California and as extern to Judge Joseph T. Sneed of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.. Geoff is currently the chair of the Language Access Committee of the California Commission on Access to Justice, the managing partner of Bingham’s Walnut Creek office and a reserve JAG officer.

I was born and raised in Odessa, Texas and  graduated from Permian high School in 1978. I  then attended the University of Texas at Austin where I received my BBA in Petroleum Land Management in 1983. Following undergraduate school I attended the University of Texas Law School, graduating in 1986. After law school I went on active duty with the United States Marine Corps where I served as a Judge Advocate General. It was in United States Marine Corps that I developed my love for the courtroom and my desire to be a trial lawyer.. After being honorably discharged from the Marines in 1990, I returned to Austin and began work at the firm of Ford & Ferraro (currently Fritz, Byrne, Head and Harrison). There, I represented insurance companies and their insureds in a variety of cases, primarily personal injuries. In 1996, I left the law firm and became a solo practitioner representing individuals (plaintiffs) against insurance companies and their insureds. I have been a plaintiffs’ attorney for the past 25 years.. During my now 25+ year practice as a plaintiff’s attorney, I have represented clients in matters involving injuries and death caused by car and truck accidents, medical malpractice, defective products, shoddy construction, boating accidents, dog bites and host of other causes. I have also successfully represented clients in employment disputes, contract disputes, deceptive trade practice cases and real estate disputes.. My philosophy for handling plaintiff’s cases is simple and straightforward: every client who I have the privilege of representing is entitled to first rate representation and personalized service. Clients are entitled to have their day in court to see that justice is done.

I am the son of a probate judge and have been practicing in this area my entire career.  I listen to my clients and I'm not afraid of trials.  Whether dealing with a step parent or an estranged sibling, the issues involved in trust and estate litigation are often about the emotional difficulties of dealing with family (and sometimes strangers) as well as the economics.  I have written on these topics and litigated these issues for decades. As a partner in a 30 lawyer firm, I also have the back up resources to address a myriad of related problems including, taxes, real estate, corporate law and even family law or criminal matters.  I am comfortable dealing with both sophisticated and highly technical probate or tax issues as well as the simplest and most straightforward lower value cases.

Attorney Andrew R. Spirt first joined the team at Golomb • Spirt P.C. more than ten years ago. In January of 2013, he was named a partner at the firm.
