Bill holds a Juris Doctor from Detroit College of Law. Before that, Bill graduated with an M.S. in Operations Research & Production Engineering and a B.S. in Metallurgy & Material Sciences at the University of London, England. He has been appointed an Expert Adviser and Facilitative Mediator in the Federal District Court, Eastern District of Michigan.. Outside the office, Bill enjoys flying his Beechcraft Debonair airplane, skiing, playing golf and tennis, working out, and traveling to England, his birthplace. I have assisted a broad range of clients with intellectual property and entertainment matters, commercial litigation, labor and employment litigation and arbitration, and corporate transactional matters.. My primary practice area is in intellectual property law, including domestic and international trademark clearance, prosecution, enforcement, policing, licensing, and litigation, with particular emphasis on protecting clients’ brands on the Internet, including domain name portfolio strategy, acquisition, management and enforcement, social media positioning and actions under the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy.  I have extensive prosecution and administrative litigation experience before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

I am an experienced attorney having spent many years in house with companies ranging from start-up to Fortune 500.  In that capacity and as outside counsel have drafted and negotiated many and varying types of corporate contracts.  Further drafted many licenses for intellectual property and development agreements.  Experience prosecuting patents and trademarks and managing trademark portfolios.  Established career as an engineer and in the United States Navy prior to law school and legal career.
