Joe is the senior lawyer at Bixby Law Office. He practices in many areas of law some of which are shown on the practice page of this web site. He is the City Attorney for the City of Geneva and has held this position since 1978. He is proud of the many accomplishments and the expansion of the City. Joe has also sat as the Chairman of the Fillmore County Mental Health Board since 1975. As Chairman, Joe has presided over many mental health cases for Fillmore, Clay, Saline, Jefferson, Seward and York Counties.. Joe has been a life long resident of Geneva. He is the third generation Bixby residing in Geneva. Doctor Bixby is Joe’s grandfather, a medical doctor and former Mayor of the City of Geneva. Joseph Bixby Jr, was Joe’s father. Joseph sold insurance and started the Fillmore County Bank in Geneva with his brother, John. John Bixby also sold insurance under the name of Bixby Insurance. John later became the City Administrator for the City of Geneva serving the City for many years.. Joe graduated from Geneva Public Schools, attended Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, NE, then went to law school at the University of Nebraska. He has practiced law since 1975 in Geneva. He started out as an associate for John Gewacke, becoming a partner a year later. After John Gewacke’s death in 1989 Joe became a solo firm.. Joe is married to Deb also a native of Geneva. They have five children: Son JJ is a stock broker, living in northern Nebraska with his wife and four children; Angie is a school psychologist who lives with her husband in Alaska with two children; Deanna a school teacher in central Nebraska, married with three children; and Monica is married, working on her Doctorate at North Carolina State. And the youngest, is son Paul who has passed the bar exam and is practicing law with Joe at Bixby Law Office. He is also married, having one child.. Joe has served many local organizations including Geneva Cemetery Association, Geneva Lions Club, Fillmore County Foundation, Geneva Public Schools Foundation, Geneva Chamber of Commerce, Geneva Alumni Association, Hidden Hills Golf Club, Knights of Columbus and others.. He is Catholic and is an instituted Reader and Acolyte at St Joseph’s Church, Geneva, Nebraska.

I graduated Minnesota State University, Mankato with a double Business Management Major at the age of 20. In my third and final year of Hamline Law School, I won a CALI award and was introduced to the world of estate planning. I found my calling. I understood the world of wills and trusts and I was good at it. I also found I had a knack for the related areas of real estate law and business law.. Kiecker Law Office, LLC first opened for business in 2006. In 2009, when my first son was born, I took time off to be a parent. That is, and always will be, my favorite “job.”. I recently published a book entitled Financially Caring for your Disabled Child that provides insight and information into Minnesota Supplemental Needs Trusts..
