I am a trial attorney, focusing on family disputes like divorce or custody matters.. As a family law or, as I prefer, "divorce attorney," I tend to handle higher conflict cases, but am always happy to assist in drafting agreements in amicable cases as well. I do, in fact, work to settle even difficult cases by agreement. That, if it can be done, usually leads to better results than anything a judge will do after trial. That said, an agreement is not always possible. I know it is shocking to hear, but sometimes you do have to fight when getting divorced. That is most of what I do.

Ms. LaCivita has a passion for empowering clients with education so they are comfortable with the process that they choose or are involved in for their divorce, paternity, post-divorce modification or enforcement (contempt) needs.  In addition to her private practice, Ms. LaCivita volunteers as Lawyer for the Day in Plymouth, Middlesex and Norfolk Counties.

I have been practicing law for over 18 years. I began in Boston and have been practicing Family Law in Western Massachusetts for 16 years. Raised by Kansas parents, Chad O'Neill maintained strong ties to the State of Kansas despite growing up in northern Illinois. He made his home in the Kansas City Metro area in 2007 with his wife, a native of Overland Park. A graduate of Western Illinois University, Mr. O’Neill was drawn to law school by a strong desire to help others in a bind. While attending Washburn University School of Law, Mr. O’Neill served as Secretary of the Tax and Estate Planning Association. Mr. O’Neill is active in the local chapter of the American Inns of Court and various local bar associations. On his down time, Mr. O’Neill can be found participating in all things sports-related.

Attorney Kyle R. Crane is partner and owner of Fairbanks Crane, LLC. Mr. Crane represents clients in areas of divorce, parentage, child custody and support establishment and modification, and other family law matters. He is also a child advocate, serving as Guardian ad Litem for minor children in custody disputes between parents in divorce and parentage cases. Mr. Crane has been practicing family law since 2017, and he is licensed in the states of Kansas and Missouri.. Mr. Crane uses his expertise in legal advocacy to understand his clients’ issues and zealously advocate on their behalf at all stages of litigation. His negotiation skills and courtroom experience enable him to obtain favorable settlements and judgments for his clients. Mr. Crane makes it his top priority to effectively communicate with his clients and be available when they need him. He truly listens to his clients and gives them the knowledge and guidance they need, and he keeps his clients informed and involved.. Mr. Crane grew up in Overland Park, Kansas, and he studied at the University of Kansas, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and his Juris Doctor. Mr. Crane is a member of the Kansas Bar Association, Johnson County Bar Association, and Missouri Bar Association. Additionally, Mr. Crane is a member of the Johnson County Kansas Family Law Inn of Court, and he has served on the Board of Trustees of the Johnson County Bar Foundation since 2019.

I chose to go into the law because people and the ability to obtain equality and justice don't always go hand in hand.  I love family law because I get to work with people to make it easier to get through and endure.  In other words, you will never be just a file or a number if we choose to work together.

I am married to an Economist a KU,  Professor John Keating.  As he is divorced, we live in a blended family too! I enjoy analyzing financials implications of divorce and strive for a financial detente; I like win-wins where possible and keeping attorneys fees low is usually part of that formula. My previous husband passed away ten years ago of cancer when my children were beginning elementary school and Dan's older children (my older stepkids) were leaving the nest.  We have a very large family between my children and stepkids.. I personally see the pain of intentionally interrupted parental contact in a blended family and see children's reaction when parents aren't civil or one does not allow a child to participate in sports or extracurricular activities during the summer and school year.  It is difficult for children to see a parent refuse civil contact with a coparent and extended family, and of course, rude behavior sets a terrible example in front of children.  All children, whether they are the ones personally involved or the ones who see unusual behavior, ask lots of questions. Kids are so smart.. Surprisingly, this example of contentious litigation and continued denial of friendly coparenting helps me show people why friendly parenting is so much better--for parents, children and extended family.  It helps my practice because I strive to keep the families in the decision making, and focus on what is best for the children.  I know life is short and parenting time is even shorter.  Denying school aged children the right to communicate, speak, text or skpye  with another parent when they want to is tragic especially when the denial of contact goes weeks at a time. I detest parents intentionally harming children by keeping them from good coparents. In the vast majority of cases, it is best for kids to spend time with both parents. There are many other ways to make the future better for the kids and for the parents transitioning.  We keep the spiritual component and peace a big part of the process.   I have many international custody cases and have enjoyed clients from four continents and many countries.. My favorite charitable groups are those helping to fight cancer and find a cure for the terrible disease.  Our family also has supported the Solace House, a support group for widows/widowers/orphans, Boys and Girls Club, Catholic Charities, and Deanna Rose Farmstead.  We are big fans of Camellot Academy, a summer program for children's arts and theater at Rockhurst High School.. I am originally a farm girl from Nebraska and remain a Cornhusker Football Fan.
