A lifelong Hoosier, Spenser grew up in Anderson and completed his undergraduate degree at Indiana University in Bloomington. During college, Spenser got his hands dirty with the Hamilton County Health Department, wading through swamps and exploring ditches and woods to treat for mosquitos. He is a huge Pacers and Colts fan, and one of his favorite foods is a foot-long hot dog at Indians games.Spenser graduated cum laude from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, Class of 2016. During law school, he sat as the Executive Production Editor for the Indiana Health Law Review and published a work in that journal about combatting unlawful discrimination in health care administration. Spenser spent his first summer during law school at the Harvard Law School Center for Health Law and Policy Innovation, which fostered his passion for social justice.Spenser is committed to helping those in need. That is why he became a lawyer. Accordingly, his practice consists predominantly of criminal defense and federal civil rights litigation. However, he does take general litigation cases under the right circumstances. As long as there is someone in need, Spenser is ready and willing to help. Spenser has strong ties to his family – his mother, father, brother, grandparents and great grandparents – and sees them often. He loves to play guitar with his dad, make Starbucks runs with his mom, and he never misses a chance at some of his great grandma’s carrot cake. On the weekend, Spenser can usually be found watching a baseball game, from first pitch to last, and enjoying an IPA. His musical tastes range from Metallica to Tupac to Ke$ha, and he is currently nursing a fledgling vinyl record collection.
