Dani joined Brandt Kettwick Defense in 2018 as an associate attorney. She has experience on both sides of criminal law. Prior to joining Brandt Kettwick Defense, she worked at the Anoka County Attorney’s office and assisted in prosecuting cases through the criminal justice system. She also worked for two years as a law clerk with the Tenth Judicial District Public Defender’s Office where she represented clients through every stage of the criminal justice system. Prior to her prosecution work, she worked as a law clerk in the office of Giancola & Durkin and conducted extensive research on various areas of criminal law. Throughout these experiences, Dani has handled hundreds of cases and co-chaired three felony jury trials. She has helped to negotiate pleas and has argued and won favorable dispositions at the district court level.. Outside of Brandt Kettwick Defense, Dani has been a firefighter with the Andover Fire Department since 2015 and truly believes in helping individuals in need. Dani received her Juris Doctor from Mitchell Hamline School of Law, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and in the top 25% of her class. Mr. Hunt graduated from Bradshaw High School in 2002 and earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alabama in 2006.  He was awarded his Juris Doctorate from Thomas Goode Jones School of Law in 2010 and was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 2010.  He is also a member of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama.  Mr. Hunt is also certified as a Guardian Ad Litem in juvenile cases.

A little about me: In 2013, I graduated from the University of North Alabama with my Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Legal Studies. I was a member of the University of North Alabama's Mock Trial team for three years and competed nationally against Ivy League schools. After graduating from UNA, I began law school at Samford University's Cumberland School of Law. While attending Law School, I assisted my prior law partner in preparing for and successfully trying multiple high-profile jury trials to verdict.. I obtained my Juris Doctorate from Samford University's Cumberland School of Law in 2016 and then successfully passed Alabama's Bar examination the summer of 2016. Since becoming a lawyer, my passion has been criminal defense trial work and criminal appellate work, among many other things. I began my law career as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable John M. Patterson, Judge (Governor, 1959-63) at the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals where I wrote approximately 150 unpublished memorandum and numerous opinions.  This was an extraordinary learning experience.. In 1993, I moved my family moved to Dothan, Alabama.  After a brief stint in civil practice, I returned to criminal law as a sole practitioner, where I tried numerous cases, including a grisly murder, one of Houston County's first DNA cases.. In 1994, I was lured from private practice to the City Attorney's Office for the City of Dothan.  While there, prosecuted hundreds of DUI cases, along with domestic violence cases and other assorted misdemeanors.  I also handled some of the City's civil work.. In 1995, I was lured from the City Attorney's Office to the Office of the District Attorney, 20th Judicial Circuit, which encompasses Houston and Henry County, Alabama.  As an Assistant District Attorney, I handled thousands of cases and tried over 200 jury trials.  Many of those were murders, robberies, drug trafficking, robbery and white collar crimes.  Again, I prosecuted hundreds of DUI and domestic violence cases and handled juvenile matters.  For a period of five years, I handled all the drug forfeiture cases for both counties.. In 2003, I returned to the private practice of law, focusing of criminal defense, DUI, and criminal appeals as I do today. Since then I have handled thousands criminal cases of all kinds.  My experience as a former prosecutor makes me a better defense attorney.  At trial, I have secured not guilty verdicts in capital murder, robbery, sex cases, drug possession and sales, DUI and numerous other cases.  In other cases, I have secured, both at trial and by plea, many lesser included offenses, including a plea from capital murder to a misdemeanor.  I have twice won the Alabama Criminal Defenses Lawyer's Merit Award.. I love being a lawyer and fight hard to  get justice for my clients.  I am a trial lawyer and prepare each case as if it were going to trial.  Most cases do not have to go to trial as a favorable plea bargain is often reached, but I am always prepared for litigation so my clients can get the best possible outcomes in their cases.

After fighting on behalf of indigent clients as a Public Defender early in my career, I am currently working alongside attorney George Creal in all matters criminal and civil.  Though only 34 years old, I've have already tried dozens of criminal cases, felony and misdemeanor alike.  My felony cases tried before a jury consist of murder charges, armed burglary, armed robbery, and drug trafficking.  Additionally, I have tried assault and battery cases plus smaller level felony drug and property offense cases.  Most of my misdemeanor cases consist of DUI charges, some with a breath test and some without.  I have also tried felony and misdemeanor cases before various judges in juveniles courts.  An overwhelming majority of my cases have resulted in either an outright acquittal or a guilty to a lesser charge.  Additionally, I have filed and/or argued over 200 motions to suppress in felony and misdemeanor cases.  A number of these motions resulted in the dismissal of my client's case, including a dismissal for trafficking in cocaine and a dismissal of an armed robbery case.  Lastly, I have taken over 1,300 depositions of state witnesses in different types of felony and misdemeanor cases.  In addition to police officers and detectives, these have ranged from eye witnesses to expert witnesses.  I have deposed expert witnesses the fields of  DUI, drug recognition, ballistics, fingerprints, and DNA.  My goal is to make sure I am more informed than the judge, prosecutor, and witnesses about the facts of my case each time I step into a courtroom.  I will always allow for a free consultation, so please don't hesitate to call me if you are in need a defense attorney who will bend over backwards for you.
