Having practiced law since 1989,Cynthia Umstead serves clients primarily in the five county are that includes Jefferson and Shelby Counties, I handle many drug and capital murder cases. I feel that I was meant to help people in this way. In a capital case , you're dealing with the human element not just that an act occurred, but why it happened. In a case where a client is guilty, the jury wants to know how this came about.. Cynthia Umstead a graduate of Birmingham School of Law, admits the stress of a criminal trial can be overwhelming at times . There is a lot of pressure, bit the key is caring about your client and having empathy for them. You also have to be willing to invest hundreds of hours in preparation. It is time consuming, but when you see someone get that second chance, it's priceless. This truly is my passion.
I am a second generation Puerto Rican who has lived in Connecticut all his life. At a young age, I wanted to always help people and strive to do so today with my legal practice. My faith in God and my legal career run together, both of which I use to try and support those who have no support, and care for those who no one cares about. I am a member of Greater Bridgeport Christian Fellowship and have been under the tutelage of Pastor Frank Cook and Pastor Eric Torres for some time. My professional life is solely focused on criminal defense and helping people stay out of jail, get out of jail, or clearing their criminal records for a better future. My dedication to my work is only trumped by my dedication to my faith and my family.. Personally, I am a normal 26 year old man who enjoys being with family, friends, and just being nice all around. My main goal in life is to come to a place where my faith and profession intersect and I am able to do both at the same time. I am also endeavouring to become better versed in civil law and other areas of the law to help others in the future.
