My experience as an attorney began in 1998 and have practiced as an attorney in the courts of D.C. and Maryland, including D.C. Superior Court for 23 years, in the D.C. Court of Appeals for 18 years; and Maryland District, Circuit, Court of Special Appeals, and Court of Appeals since 2004.  During these two decades, I have represented literally hundreds of clients charged with felony and misdemeanor criminal offenses (including drug possession and distribution, possession of illegal firearms, burglary, theft, robbery, sexual assault, and murder cases, among others).  I have had dozens of criminal bench and jury trials and handled hundreds of criminal pleas. Along with a colleague,we won a ground-breaking appellate case in Maryland that found that the application of retroactive requirements for sex offender registration were prohibited by the Maryland Declaration of Rights (Constitution).  This outcome was and is preventing the State of Maryland from suddenly requiring sex offender registration for persons convicted decades before the first sex offender statutes became law.  I live with my husband, Jack, in Maryland, with our two Himalayan cats.  I enjoy travel, dining, golf, boating and reading.
