Born in North Carolina, Attorney Taylor McLawhorn moved to Oklahoma to attend Oklahoma City University’s School of Law. During his time in law school, he interned with the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System’s Capital Direct Appeals Division and the Oklahoma County Public Defender’s Office. He was then recruited by the Chief Public Defender and gained invaluable experience as he continued working with the Public Defender’s Office. His service as an advocate for people facing prosecution from a powerful government inspired me to become a defense attorney.. I’m fluent in Spanish. This is mainly due to the extensive time I spent living and working in Mexico. During that time, I was actively involved in the community. That helped me better understand culture and language.. I started my legal career as a public defender. During that time, I handled hundreds of cases per year. The charges ranged from misdemeanors to violent felonies.
