Won a scholarship to study abroad in Innsbruck, Austria in my senior year, and went back the entire following summer as Asst to the Director of the UNO Int'l Study Program before miraculously getting admitted to LSU Law School in '93 in Baton Rouge (JD '96). Passed the LA State Bar on the first attempt.. Workplace. Started off in the late 70's learning a trade: Printing. Made a good impression as a press operator & quick print shop manager through my late 20's in Tampa, FL. Was a bellman at a Captiva Island, FL resort, South Seas Plantation for a few years. Later, I landed a position at a local record store in Brandon, FL (The Record Factory) where I rose to Manager in no time. Flipped over my much loved Toyota Celica Supra in '84 and was sidelined for about a year, then got my feet all wet managing my family's Scuba Diving shop in Apollo Beach. My MIL owned a motel in Maggie Valley, NC which my wife, Cindy & I managed for a several years. Fate & circumstances led me to New Orleans where I started college. Worked as an English Composition tutor, an Administrative Assistant, and then as a WestLaw Student Rep. Sold used Macs through college and offered Apple tech support much like the Maytag Service guy, too! After getting to Shreveport I hung my own shingle in '99 and have made a decent living as a General Practitioner ever since, following a 3 year stint slaving a'ways as a Public Defender. Actually, I loved the gig as a 'free lawyer' a la Atticus Finch, Matlock & Perry Mason; I've racked up a pretty solid reputation along the way.

Sarah Giglio graduated, cum laude, from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. Prior to law school, Sarah graduated, magna cum laude, from Texas A&M University. While in law school, Sarah served as a Staff Editor and President of the International Law Review. Additionally, she was an active member of the Association for Public Interest Law, from which she received a stipend to do public interest work after her first year of law school. The following year she was elected Vice-President of that organization, where she took a considerable role in fundraising efforts to provide stipends to law students who wished to do public service internships.. Additionally, during law school, Sarah took an active role in the clinics offered at SMU.  She began as a student in the Child Advocacy Clinic, and was selected to serve as Chief in that clinic the following semester, giving her even more experience in navigating custody and guardian ad litem situations.  She also clerked at a firm specializing in civil litigation for a year and a half.  She knew she wanted to practice criminal law after an internship with the Dallas District Attorney’s Office.  After graduating from law school, she began her career in criminal defense work, becoming an associate at Rosenthal & Wadas in McKinney, Texas, where she practiced until she moved to Shreveport, where she worked as an associate at Elton B. Richey & Associates.  Together with Katherine Gilmer, Sarah then opened Gilmer & Giglio, LLC as partner, where she now works.. I am 1989 graduate of  the University of South Carolina Honors College, magna cum laude,and a 1993 graduate of the University of Chicago Law School. While in law school, I completed a clinical education program with a concentration in criminal law.  After graduation I began my career as an assistant public defender with the Cook County Public Defender s Office in Chicago. I have been a criminal lawyer, and only a criminal lawyer, ever since.. In 1996, I returned to New Orleans, establishing my professional career with the Orleans Parish Public Defender’s Office. In early 1998, I established NOLA Criminal Law, because I sensed there was a need for a lawyer like me – a lawyer who was willing to try to do things a little bit differently than most.
