I graduated from Arizona State University in 2006 with my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Spanish Language. In 2011, I received my Juris Doctor degree from the Phoenix School of Law. After graduation, I moved to Boulder and am admitted to practice law in both Colorado and Arizona.. After moving to Colorado I gained experience in criminal law working as an associate criminal defense attorney. I appeared in court across the state on a daily basis. Being bi-lingual was a tremendous asset as my clients were primarily Spanish speaking. In 2013, I began an apprenticeship at Willoughby and Associates, a premier family law firm in downtown Denver.. I began my legal career in June of 2001 as an Assistant State Attorney here in the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida (Clay, Duval and Nassau County).  I spent a total of seven years at the State Attorney's Office where I handled cases from misdemeanor domestic violence, petit theft, DUIs, as well as many different felony cases including, drug possession, drug sales, trafficking, grand theft, child abuse, child neglect, sexual assault, sexual battery, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, attempted murder and murder.  I ended my career as a Division Chief in the felony division and a member of the homicide rotation.  I handled over forty jury trials during this time and hundreds of other contested evidentiary hearings.  The trial advocacy skills I learned while as a State prosecutor have assisted me greatly in private practice handling criminal defense and family law cases.  The past three years I have primarily focused on contested family law cases handling very complex divorces, custody actions, paternity cases, modification actions and contempt actions.  I have also maintained a criminal defense practice that I have been able to successfully defend many clients in either having their charges dropped or reduced, or even an acquittal after jury trial.  My office is equipped with a very experienced paralegal who provides great assistance in the discovery process and handling of my case load.  My law parter is also my Wife and our entire staff treats our clients with our family and team oriented approach.  Call us today and let our family help yours through any of your legal needs.

I've been practicing law for over twenty years, almost all of it in Thurston County Family and Juvenile Court. I became a family law Guardian ad Litem in 2011, and served in that role for many years. I have accepted various court appointments over the years, representing minor children in dependency cases; both parents and children in minor guardianship cases; and petitioners in domestic violence protection order cases. I have occasionally served as a Title 4 GAL to investigate a party's competency.. In 2024, I was honored to begin serving the community in the capacity of Pro Tem Settlement Conference Judge, and my interest in that led me to take the Professional Mediation Training offered by the Thurston County Dispute Resolution Center, so that I may join the list of court-approved private mediators in 2025..
