Macey was inducted into the Delta Mu Delta honor society and graduated with honors earning her undergraduate degree in Business Management in 2015. She was awarded a Juris Doctorate degree from Lincoln Memorial University, Duncan School of Law in 2018.While earning her law degree, Macey assisted in drafting a published evidence study aide for law students and a soon to be published evidence trial guide for attorneys. Macey received the Cali award in her intellectual property course while attending law school. Macey also served as the President of the Women of the Law Society where she partnered with community members to orchestrate many outreach events.. Macey began her career as a solo practitioner where she gained experience in many areas of the law including domestic and family law, wills, trusts, and estates, contract law, property disputes, and criminal defense.. After practicing as a solo practitioner, Macey joined a Murfreesboro law firm as an associate attorney in January of 2020, where she gained experience in pre-litigation practices and education law at the state and federal level. There she worked on several legal issues faced by school systems, including special education, Section 504, ADA, student discipline, civil rights, and employment law.. While working with the special education firm, Macey occasionally worked as a contracted attorney to help various other attorneys with their pre-litigation work and hearing needs. I have been a litigation attorney in Nashville, Tennessee for thirty-nine years and I am in good standing. I am admitted to practice in the courts of Tennessee and the federal district courts here as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. I am experienced in civil rights litigation in Nashville, although most of my litigation work has been with state government. I have never had any disciplinary charges filed during my career and I have had a BV peer review rating from since the 1990s. I worked in the attorney general’s office for three years and have been with the state Bureau of Workers’ Compensation in the field of workers’ compensation law and have served both as a litigation attorney for the Subsequent Injury and Vocational Recovery Fund and as a hearing officer.. I have served on numerous committees, including the ACLU state and local boards and the litigation committee, several church committees, and the Napier-Looby Bar Association, which traditionally served the African American legal community.
