Denise understands the importance of family law having experienced divorce herself and raising her child as a single mother. The impact that the process of divorce can have on peoples’ lives is profound. Her experience brings compassion, professionalism, and understanding to the table while guiding our clients through the process.. While in law school, she was a Juidical Law Clerk for the 18 Judicial District.  Upon passing the bar exam, she began working at the 4th Judicial District Attorneys Office as a Deputy D.A., Public Information Officer and liaison to the FBI. During her six years there she gained vast trial and litigation experience prosecuting high profile and complicated cases, arming her with the ability to take her clients’ cases confidently to court if the need arose. She then spent time representing the Colorado State Child Support Enforcement Unit, working with the State and courts to ensure that child support issues were resolved. This gives her valuable insight into the process of determining child support and enforcing payment. After her time working with the Child Support Enforcement Unit it was a natural transition into family law.. She is able to successfully arrive at amicable resolutions with opposing counsel, but is ready to go to court if an agreement couldn’t be reached. Growing up in Oklahoma, I was frequently invovled with children and education. Apart from the usual babysitting, I was also very involved helping with my mother's first grade classroom. I attended Booker T. Washington High School, which is a nationally recognized magnet school. After graduation, I attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with an associated minor in Philosophy from UNM. I began attending the University of Denver College of Law in 2000, from which I received my Juris Doctorate in 2003.. I did not take the traditional path to becoming an attorney, however. After graduating from the University of Denver I moved to Dillon, Colorado. Prior to becoming a dedicated family law attorney, I was a children's snowboard instructor for Breckenridge Ski Resort for four years. I returned to Denver in 2008 to briefly work for a personal injury firm. I did not find that personal injury was a good fit for me. I began doing intern work for Colorado Legal Services/Metro Volunteer Lawyers in 2009. This is where I received my introduction to family law. I began working for myself in 2010 and have not looked back.. I truly am dedicated to helping people through their divorces, custody issues and all other aspects that involve family law. The cases are seldom easy from an emotional standpoint. Being a mother, myself, to three young children I understand the heartache that can result from having to share custody of your children. However, I also understand the importance of having both parents being invloved in the children's lives. I offer caring and zealous representation and promise to never stop doing my very best for Colorado families.
