Firm: Robinson Henry P.C.

Robinson & Henry Associate Attorney Steven Lambert is a member of the firm’s Family Law Team. Steven’s passion for understanding the country’s governmental, bureaucratic, and judicial institutions inspired him to attend law school.. Steven has practiced various areas of law, including civil litigation, criminal law, government relations, corporate, and commercial law. Early on, though, he found himself gravitating towards the area of family law.. “It felt to me to be the most grounded in real life. In the practice of law, there is nothing more human than helping real people work through dissolution and custody matters,” Steven said.. In his legal practice, Steven has witnessed the spectrum of family law cases: high-asset, low-asset, high-conflict, very amicable, and everywhere in between. He uses this varied experience as he approaches each new case, no matter where his client is in the process or how the parties are relating to one another.. Steven takes a two-pronged approach to his client’s case. Professionally, he strives to be the most informed person about the facts of the case (apart from the parties themselves), as well as the most knowledgeable attorney regarding the laws pertaining to it.. Sometimes, cases involve nuanced areas of the law that are either completely new to the court or rarely litigated. When that occurs, Steven does not shy away from educating the court about the unique facts of the case.. Steven immerses himself with a case’s relevant facts and laws so when he steps into the courtroom or a settlement conference, he is prepared to obtain the best possible outcome for his clients and their families.. On a personal level, Steven tries to make himself as available as possible for his clients. He understands his clients are experiencing some of the most stressful times in their lives, so he ensures all their case information is available at his fingertips.. “Sometimes all it takes to ease a client’s nerves is a quick Zoom meeting or response email to reassure them of their case or explain a legal aspect of the law with which the client is not familiar. I strive to have each of my clients say that they feel better after speaking to me,” Steven said.. A Colorado native, Steven grew up in Leadville. He still visits from time to time to catch up with old friends and explore little-known facets of his hometown. During his free time, Steven enjoys spending time with his wife, Sydney, and their one-year-old son, Beckett. Steven plays the guitar and ukulele.. Steven’s Most Influential Case in His Own Words:. “There was a case out of Weld County that touched on the intersection of criminal and civil law. In this case, which ultimately gained global notoriety, I was able to assist my clients’ case by presenting various aspects of their legal and personal struggles to local and national news media, including an appearance on The Doctor Phil Show and various documentaries. Having such a small slice of life blown up to that scale demonstrated for me how special and sacred each individual life and case can be for those involved.”

My life these days is largely centered around my work.  However, I have always been very active physically and remain in excellent physical condition notwithstanding my ever-expanding girth.  I ran and coached competitively for about 25 years and then switched over to bicycling, which I have done all my life. Every year I promise to drop some pounds so that I can get back to doing time trials.  In the meantime, I enjoy riding 4-6 days per week during the summer, with one long ride of 40-70 miles and the other rides 15-20 miles.  I also lift weights, and am much stronger now than I was when I had skinny runner arms in my twenties and thirties.. Other than work and exercise, I follow a lot of sports, mostly at the professional level, including MMA (big fan of Royce Graycie back in the day and Fedor Emelianenko), Nascar (Jeff Gordon although I think his winning may be in the past), MLB (excited about the Nats), NFL (Redskins, since I live here), NHL (Caps, for the same reason, plus they're good), Le Tour de France, and track and field.. Although I long ago gave up my intellectual pretensions, I spent  my younger adult years studying and teaching philosophy. In addition to Socrates and Plato, whom virtually all philosophy students in this country love, my favorite philosophers at the beginning of my studies were late nineteenth century Germans better known for their literary brilliance than their metaphysical prowess.  Thus in 1975, I published my first paper on Schopenhauer and wrote a master's thesis comparing Thus Spoke Zarathustra by Neitzsche with Sartor Resartus by Thomas Carlyle, who was not a German philosopher but wished that he were.. As I progressed in my academic studies, I moved towards a style of philosophy formerly known as the British analytical school (I don't know if the term still is used), although one of the central figures in this school was Ludwig Wittgenstein, who was every bit as strange as Neitzsche and Schopenhauer.. Before leaving academia, apparently for good, I completed my Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico with a dissertation that concerned "self-defeating" and "self-fulfilling" predictions in the social sciences.  This was more or less an interdisciplinary study in which I discussed certain theories of explaining social behavior then prevalent in sociology, psychology, economics, and sociobiology, none of which fields I have kept up with, since lawyers as a whole are rather anti-intellectual in nature.

Benjamin S. Kuipers is a first generation American originally raised in rural Minnesota, and is an Arizona trial attorney focusing on litigation. Mr. Kuipers studied in college under a number of fine professors and contributed to articles published by fellows at the Hoover Institution, and in the Wall Street Journal. Mr. Kuipers graduated college magna cum laude in three years, and proceeded to move to New York City, where he was employed at the country’s oldest economics think-tank, the Foundation for Economic Education.. Following a brief hiatus running a political campaign, Mr. Kuipers attended and graduated law school at Arizona State University. In his undergrad and law school career, Mr. Kuipers was able to study under two U.S. Supreme Court Justices, two state Supreme Court justices (one in Michigan and one in Arizona), and worked as a research fellow in economic history studying the long term impact on federal fiscal policy of the First World War. Following law school, Mr. Kuipers litigated hundreds of cases in Arizona’s trial and appellate courts spanning everything from cases involving a few thousand to fifteen million dollars. With over one hundred bench and jury trials, Mr. Kuipers has a 100% success rate in Arizona appellate litigation. Mr. Kuipers loves the courtroom, and that love is reflected in the individual care he gives each client and case.. When not litigating cases, Mr. Kuipers enjoys spending time bantering about on the finer points of military history, economics, law, and philosophy with his friends, many cousins the world over, and colleagues in the National Guard. Most especially however, he cherishes his time in the mountains with his fellow avid co-sportsman, a devoted Rhodesian Ridgeback.. Being a single generation out of a foreign jungle where the rule of law and civilization itself was under attack from terrorist forces, Mr. Kuipers appreciates the magnificent gift it is to be an American, and has acted in gratitude of this gift by going through the U.S. Army School of Infantry at Fort Benning, GA, and by serving proudly in the Arizona Army National Guard. Mr. Kuipers comprehends the tremendous gift it is to be in a society governed by the rule of law, where the individual's rights are protected and guaranteed against all comers, and he has dedicated himself to working to preserve for future generations those basic principles of limited government which undergird our American system of law, and which are enshrined in our Constitution.
