Maria, born in Mexico and raised in Las Vegas, earned her J.D. from the William Boyd School of Law at UNLV in December 2023. She graduated with Pro Bono Highest Honors, having completed over 100 hours of volunteer work in child abuse, neglect, and immigration law cases. During her law studies, she was honored as the outstanding student in the Adjustment of Status and Deportation Defense Class within the Community Service Program and received a CALI award for her excellence in Opening Statements and Closing Arguments. As a student attorney, she mediated family law cases in the Eighth Judicial District Court.. Dedicated to aiding others, Maria has been a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in foster care since September 2020. In partnership with the Boyd School of Law Immigration Clinic, she has also helped immigrants achieve U.S. citizenship through naturalization.. With 12 years of experience in complex family law cases, appeals, and a broad understanding of immigration law, Maria is poised to join McFarling Law Group as a family law and immigration attorney upon her admission as a Nevada attorney.. Outside of her professional pursuits, Maria enjoys dancing, visiting the beach, practicing yoga, and spending quality time with her dog, Chewbacca.
