I am fascinated with the history of our Nation and the laws that make it great. I was born and raised in the Southeastern Michigan and grew up in a family entrenched in law enforcement. I James attended Wayne State University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice.. I serving as a law enforcement officer for a number of years.  I determined that the real way for him to make a difference was to help people understand the intricacies of the law through legal representation. He returned to Wayne State to pursue a degree in law, graduating in 2000.. I started my own law practice in 2003. Through the respect of his peers, gracious referrals from past clients and an extraordinary reputation, my legal practice continues to grow.  I have great respect for the Downriver community where he was born and raised and stay involved as a Riverview resident, where I was involved as multitude of activities, including as baseball and football coach, sports and band booster, active boat club member and volunteer with various charitable organizations.. I am a member of the Detroit Metro Bar Association, Downriver Bar Association, Criminal Defense Association of Michigan and former member of the 33rd District Court Sobriety Program.

Mr. Stec is an associate attorney with John R. Foley, PC. He has extensive experience in all areas of family law, including divorce, custody, parenting time, and support disputes.. Mr. Stec regularly assists clients with custodial probate issues and estate planning, including preparing wills, trusts, and deeds. He also counsels clients in financial matters, such as commercial landlord-tenant disputes, real estate transactions, and representing both debtors and creditors in bankruptcy and collection proceedings.

I have exclusively practiced family law for the entirety of my legal career. I have successfully resolved hundreds of cases both in and out of court. I was raised primarily in West Michigan. I earned my Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Grand Valley State University and law degree from Western Michigan University-Cooley Law School. My legal career began in Colorado, helping families navigate divorce, legal separation, child custody, child support, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements and spousal support matters. I moved back to Michigan in 2021 and now resides there with my husband, son, dog and cat. I continue to represent clients through all types of family law cases in Michigan. I am passionate about helping others navigate uncertain and challenging times in their lives. I believe the gateway to helping a client rewrite their story is to listen and understand their background and create goals to move forward.
