David Komie graduated from Florida Atlantic University on a tennis scholarship. He had a brief and humbling stint on a small pro tour before he decided to attend Mercer University's Walter F. George School of Law.. In law school David eventually made his way onto the Mercer Law Review, faring much better than he did on the tennis court. After graduating in the summer of 1989, David began working for the Atlanta insurance defense firm of Chambers, Mabry, McClelland & Brooks.
