In addition to my workers' compensation law practice, I am a single mother of two boys - now men -- and I enjoy playing classical piano.. I was a piano performance major when I began college and switched to a pre-law major after discovering I wanted to make a meaningful contribution to the world through working as an attorney.  It was at that point, I completely stopped playing the piano.. Twenty-seven years later, I started practicing the piano again and even took up piano lessons again with the intent of competing in International Amateur Piano Competitions.  I was a winner in the Seattle International Piano Competition in 2010 and had the opportunity to perform in Benaroya Hall.  In 2011, I was a quarter-finalist (top 15 out of 100) in the Paris International Piano Competition.  My next competition is again in Paris  scheduled in March 2015.  My favorite piece (at this time) is Chopin's 4th Ballade in f minor.  Some days I can play it better than others.

Maureen was raised in Geneva, New York. At the end of her junior year in high school, she enrolled in the early admissions program at a nearby community college. After graduation, she took a seven-year hiatus to begin a family. In 1983, the untimely death of a childhood friend inspired her to return to college. “What was planned to be a two-year commitment turned into a seven-year adventure. I enrolled in an Introduction to Law course and was hooked. I attended school during the day and worked fulltime nights and weekends. As a single parent, I wanted to set an example for my son that through hard work and perseverance, dreams do come true.”. Maureen graduated Cum laude from Russell Sage College in 1987 and then went on to earn her law degree from Albany Law School of Union University in 1990. She was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1991.. Maureen has focused on Workers’ Compensation Law since 1992. As of 1998, she has represented solely the injured worker. “It has been very gratifying to have helped hundreds of people whose lives have been turned upside down as the result of an unexpected work injury. I was therefore thrilled when invited to join the law firm of Martin, Harding & Mazzotti, LLP in August of 2008 since the level of personal commitment to the needs of the client is outstanding.”. Maureen is a member of the Injured Workers’ Bar Association, the Albany County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.
