I'm as "solo" a practitioner of law that you will find, these days.  I have been married for almost 26 years to a wonderful professional woman who was forced into early retirement from a career as a nurse and manager of a pain management clinic because of a degenerative disability.  Thus, I practice law out of my home so I am also available to care for my wife when she needs me.. I have experience in many areas of civil law, including personal injury, business, real property, partnerships, and a smattering of cases involving family law, bankruptcy, and other general civil llitigation matters.  I have handled cases (both my own and assisting other private practice attorneys) in many different areas of law, for both plaintiffs and defendants.  I have also drafted appellate briefs, one of which resulted in a published opinion in the California Court of Appeal (4th District).. Although I am now in private solo practice, I have also worked for larger and smaller firms, including 2 years with Kayajanian, Furay, Baker & Hill, staff counsel firm for Fireman's Fund Insurance Company (that firm no longer exists).. I do a lot of contract work, including making court appearances in Southern California courts in civil matters, misdemeanor criminal matters, and bankruptcy hearings.. I specialize in writing legal documents, from the simplest of pleadings to simple motions (such as discovery motions), more complex motions (such as Motions for Summary Judgment and oppositions to them), up to large-scale appellate briefs.  Also, necessarily, I specialize in conducting the legal research which is vital to creating such documents.. For the practicing attorney, I can be an invaluable asset in that I can be available, upon relatively short notice, to assist in any or all aspects of complex litigation matters.  I can appear in court for hearings in most civil matters, conduct research, handle depositions and discovery matters, research and draft motions and oppositions to motions, and assist in all aspects of trial preparation.. For the potential client, I am able and willing to accept cases which other attorneys may be too busy to handle, or which other attorneys might reject for other reasons.  I will frequently accept cases for a much smaller retainer fee than is typical for specific types of legal matters, and can provide quality legal services for a much smaller hourly rate (when an hourly rate is required) than is typical for the type of services provided.

Edward Alberola obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and in 2005 he obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Santa Clara University. During his second year in law school he was an editor for the Santa Clara Journal of International Law and finalist in the Concours-Pictet International Moot Court Competition. During his third year of law school he was an extern for the honorable A. James Robertson II and later a Research Assistant for the San Francisco Superior Court.. After graduating, Edward Alberola studied at the Sorbonne for a Master’s in Business Law and worked at the Paris offices of Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe and Cabinet Franklin while specializing in securities litigation and cross-border mergers and acquisitions. Since returning to California in the beginning of 2008, he has focused on construction litigation and personal injury cases.. His publications include Making it Easier to Serve 20-Day Preliminary Notices; Force Framing, Inc. v. Chinatrust Bank, 187 1368 (2010) (so long as the information provided in a Preliminary 20-day Notice is obtained from a sufficiently reliable source, such as from the owner, a contractor need not investigate extraneous sources to verify said information); and Paveco Construction, Inc. v. She watched as her mother spent most of her life working in factories as a machinist, and her family often struggled to make ends meet.. From these humble beginnings, Samantha learned the value of hard-work and self-sacrifice, developing the character that would allow her to devote herself to overcoming poverty and obtaining an education. She graduated high school at the age of sixteen, and immediately attended college. She worked throughout her schooling, often times having to work several jobs at once to continue to help her family while pursuing her Bachelor’s degree. Her strong work-ethic led her to law school, and when she graduated she devoted her time and energy to learning all areas of the law that impact families and the injured.

Nicole specializes in personal injury, litigation and employment matters. She comes to Sargent Law Firm after over 15 years with K&L Gates and Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, Breakwater and Ross Employment Law. Nicole started her legal career at K&L Gates as a litigator. She represented clients, including MTV and Nike, in their defense against employment-related claims and lawsuits. She was also very active with Public Counsel and enjoyed assisting families (pro bono) in the adoption of children who need loving homes. Nicole continued her employment practice, both representing clients in litigation and conducting workplace investigations while employed at Sheppard Mullin and Ross Employment Law.. Nicole graduated from UCLA in 1999 with a BA in Business Economics and a minor in Accounting and is an avid supporter of the Bruin’s football and basketball teams. She graduated from UC Hastings School of Law in 2002 and is a member of the California State Bar and UCLA Alumni Association. She loves to travel, experience food and spend quality time with family and friends.
