He represented the City of Tarrant, Alabama before the Supreme Court of the United States in an important civil rights case, and has also litigated in the Supreme Courts of Alabama and Tennessee and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.. In August 2010, he filed an Amicus Curiae brief for the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association in support of a petition for writ of certiorari for a death-row inmate. The case is Cory Maples v.
