Ryan earned his B.A. in literature from Eastern Nazarene College, graduating with distinction, and went on to earn a B.A. with honors in theology from the Victoria University of Manchester, in Manchester, England. After volunteering in Albania, Ryan earned his Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern Mississippi, and eventually obtained his law degree from the University Of Connecticut School Of Law, winning the prestigious Alva P.
